Re: The Live ATP Rankings Thread
Will Federer get a zero-pointer if he skips Miami? Because I read something about a rule for > 31 years and 600 matches that allows skip mandatory tournaments without giving a reason, but don't know if this also applies for the rankings

He will. The rule applies only in terms of fines a player is charged by skipping mandatories.

Re: The Live ATP Rankings Thread
To get to number 2 after Indian Wells, Murray needs to reach the final in Indian Wells.
To keep or get the number 2 after Miami, Murray needs either :
- to win Miami
- to win Indian Wells and reach QF in Miami
- to play the final in both Indian Wells and Miami
Here's the situation for the rankings before Roland-Garros at the moment as some mentioned it :
Code:
Djokovic 10720
Murray 7390
Federer 7310
Ferrer 5780
Del Potro 3800
Berdych 3800
Nadal 3350
Tsonga 3210
Nadal is still 2430 points behind Ferrer, and well Nadal can win a lot before Roland-Garros but Ferrer is also allowed to get points during clay season

So Murray will have to reach the final of Indian wells, after Indian wells is over?

If Murray reaches Indian Wells final, he will get to number 2 next monday.
But if he hasn't won Indian Wells, and if he doesn't reach Miami final, he will lose it back after Miami.

Re: The Live ATP Rankings Thread
Now it's easier : for Murray to get the number 2 after Miami he needs to win Miami, that's all.

Re: The Live ATP Rankings Thread
But now we can talk about Delpo winning IW and reaching the number 2 spot in the race.

Re: The Live ATP Rankings Thread
^^ And a Berdych-Delpo final, with the winner getting the race #2

Re: The Live ATP Rankings Thread
Together with that number 2 in the Race, Nadal can also take the number 4 back from Ferrer in the Rankings if he wins Indian Wells.
But even if he did so, he would then have 1790 points more to take from Ferrer until Roma to get the number-4 seed in Roland-Garros. And he would have to do it not being seeded 1 or 2, which means with potentially facing Djokovic before the final.

Re: The Live ATP Rankings Thread
We can now see that only 285 points remain between Nadal and Ferrer. It's impressive how fast Nadal closed the gap, on the most unexpected moment.

Re: The Live ATP Rankings Thread
A lot is at stake, rankings wise, in the final.
If Nadal wins, he takes back the #4 in the rankings.
If Delpo wins, he reaches #6 in the rankings, his highest in a long time(since May 2010)
Also, the winner will become #2 in the race.
