If I see Hans at Nico's doubles match, I'll ask him what Nano meant...whether Nico is going to take ther rest of the year off or play more matches before the Oz Open. Because Nano wasn't clear.

Gildemeister: "Capdeville es una muy buena alternativa"

Pese a los últimos resultados tanto de Fernando González como de Nicolás Massú, el capitán del equipo chileno de Copa Davis, Hans Gildemeister, dice estar tranquilo de cara al duelo por el repechaje del Grupo Mundial ante Israel.

El "Biónico" se encuentra en Nueva York, donde pudo observar in situ la rápida eliminación de las primeras raquetas nacionales, así como la buena participación de Paul Capdeville, a quien califica como "una muy buena alternativa".

"Lo bueno es que pude estar en el lugar de los hechos. Me llevo una completa evaluación con las virtudes y las fallas que cometieron, para así poder conversar y trabajar una vez que estemos practicando en Israel", comentó.

Massú completó en el US Open cinco derrotas seguidas en un estreno, mientras que González cuatro, resultados que contrastan con los conseguidos por los integrantes del equipo israelí, aunque ello no lo asusta.

"Yo me preocupo de mis jugadores, que lleguen de la mejor forma", dijo Hans en ese aspecto. "żSi hay tiempo? Espero que sí, tengo confianza. Siempre he creido mucho en ellos así que espero podamos revertir los malos resultados".

En ese sentido, Gildemeister cree que el torneo de Beijing, donde estarán González, Capdeville y García, puede ser un buen momento para la recuperación, así como la jornada de prácticas que tendrá con el vińamarino en Santiago.

Con respecto al segundo singlista, el "Biónico" sostuvo que es demasiado prematuro para hablar sobre la conformación del equipo, aunque admitió que los últimos resultados del de Vitacura lo tienen tranquilo.

"Lo que me deja contento es que es una muy buena alternativa. Obviamente me deja muy contento lo que ha hecho en las últimas semanas, pero eso (el segundo singlista) se va decir una vez que estemos entrenando", explicó.

Gildemeister viajará en las próximas horas de vuelta a Chile, donde el próximo lunes debería a comenzar con el trabajo junto a Massú, previa a una conversación con la segunda raqueta nacional.

De la Peña: "Yo me la juego por la experiencia de Massú"

No es un secreto que el equipo chileno de Copa Davis no llegará en buen pie a disputar el duelo ante Israel por el repechaje del Grupo Mundial, ya que tanto Fernando González como Nicolás Massú no han tenido un buen desempeño en el último tiempo.

En este contexto, y gracia el buen trabajo hecho por Paul Capdeville en el US Open donde cayó ante Roger Federer (6-1, 6-4 y 6-4), la tercera raqueta nacional podría perfilarse como uno de los posibles singlistas, aunque el ex capitán del equipo chileno, Horacio de la Peña, se inclina claramente por la experiencia antes del buen rendimiento.

"Yo creo que en un partido decisivo y si yo fuera el capitán, me iría más por la experiencia de Nicolás. Más allá de que a Paul lo quiero mucho, y juega muy bien, lo tendría ahí a la espera, pero me inclino por Massú", explicó De la Peña a La Tercera Online.

"Paul (Capdeville) está cada vez más cerca de poder llegar a jugar un singles, por eso lo guardaría para que esté entero. Hay que pensar que ahora se va a jugar de forma distinta. Es un jueves, un viernes, y todo se va a definir 48 horas después, ya que el sábado se va a descansar", prosiguió el ex "coach" de Capdeville.

Respecto a la situación del equipo, donde tanto González como Massú no han tenido un buen desempeño, el "Pulga" explicó que "está en una situación complicada. Lamentablemente los chicos no han ganado ningún partido en el verano norteamericano y eso brinda un poco de desconfianza. Creo que el capitán va tener una ardua tarea en reagrupar a los chicos y de armar una buena estrategia".

Finalmente, el también ex entrenador de Fernando González se refirió al equipo israelí, señalando que "son rivales que hay que tenerles cuidado. Los doblistas están jugando muy bien. Eso era un punto que antes era más a favor de nosotros, pero igual hay que ver especialmente la fuerza de los singles. De todos modos creo que debe ser Nicolás el que defina, en especial, contra el número uno de ellos".

Chile y Israel se enfrentarán por el repechaje al Grupo Mundial de la Copa Davis los días jueves 20, viernes 21 y domingo 23 de septiembre en Tel Aviv, partidos que usted podrá seguir en vivo a través de La Tercera Online.

naaah Tommy ... what we're saying is that the questionable singles spot in the DC team is always Nico, no matter if Fernando is losing even more than him .. even Paul is saying that he should play instead of Nico, nobody every questions about Fernando's spot on the DC team
