From Radio Cooperativa:

After the hard fall before Mikhail Youzhny in the second round of the US Open, the Chilean abandonment to see its impotence, although clarified that will continue fighting for scaling positions in the ranking of the ATP.

The loss for 7-5, 7-6 (6), 4-6, 3-6 and 0-6 before the Russian Mikhail Youzhny (54º of the ATP) penetrated depth in Nicolas Massú (41º), who after the fall before the player Muscovite expressed that he feels destroyed, although announced that will seek to be recovered provided to return to its better tennis.

"A match not the life can change you. I cannot tell you that I am happy, I am destroyed: I lost in the US Open, I lost a match that must have won, but I have to continue fighting. One has to continue, I cannot throw the towel. I am uncomfortable, because thought that I won it", explained with impotence the number two of Chile.

Beyond the punctual rout in Flushing Meadows, Massú explained that along all the season of the American cement felt uncomfortable.

"Do not I feel playing badly, only I feel playing al tennis. When I was in Amersfoort, against (Carlos) Moya and (Rubén) Ramírez Hidago, was playing my better tennis, but if we are speaking of the last five weeks and since we begin in cement, I have not felt of the all well. I have had good matches, as today, but in some moment of the encounter I lost the focus, and that he has been me carrying to lose it", he explained the viñamarino.

"When he was 3-2 up I threw three right for was and later it did not I put more. And if I did not hit to the two hand backhand, he was because did not he feel it well", added the double Olympic champion.

"Beyond the moment, one always wants to win, but are hard blows that the tennis gives you", sentenced Massú, who will lose various places in the ranking since he was not to defend the quarterfinals obtained in 2005. (Cooperative.cl)

TRANSLATION FOR THIS PLEASE!!!!

¿Grave o no?

Default Re: Nico News and Articles

Now I know why I didn't see him in practice today - I hope he had a wonderful day shopping and having fun in NY. And tonight too since I highly doubt he'll play tomorrow - its supposed to rain very hard on Saturday.

Translation:

Bad day

Massú lost for 5-7, 6-7, 6-4, 6-3 and 6-0 before the Russian one Mikhail Youzny a party that had dominated, but was distracted and went for the crag. Only an outstanding action in Madrid or Paris would put it of return among the 30 better than the world.

Aunt Sonia was particularly worried. They had said that the Russian one Mikhail Youzhny was a complicated type, that product of the wounds had a ranking lying (54º) and could put in predicaments to its son. But the mom of the double Olympic champion wanted to believe, at any cost, in the triumph of Nicolas.

You believe that he earns?, he asked me with some enormous desires that the answer were affirmative, while was installed in the same seat of the court 12 where Monday saw the triumph on the Italian one Davide Sanguinetti.

"It is super partner, but has enough option", I told without spirit to ruin his expectations, although knowing that the Russian came from rolling to Dominik Hrbaty and he was dangerous in hard court. "Oh, I hope, he would be so good", he exclaimed with a mixture of anguish and relief, al time that continued his intrigue: to be sat down behind his husband and to a side of Mery, Portuguese friend.

All who we were there we wanted that Massú advanced to third round, but, al less in my case, had awareness that was a matter of an open party, of two very different styles, but of forces very couples.

Poor Sonia. Suffered the unmentionable thing. First because Nicolas had to play al limit the two first sets to be advanced for 7-5 and 7-6. A result that in a tournament of the circuit to regulate him meaning a magnificent victory. And later, because a long nightmare lived since left to escape an advantage of 3-1 in the third one set until losing for 6-0 in the fifth one.

"Do not I know what is passing me, I lose the focus and I let go of the match. It is not first time that passes me, a time ago that is occurring me. In this tour by North America happened me several times and, the truth, I do not have explanation", the number would say then two of Chile.

For two hours and 17 minutes the viñamarino played a perfect match. It committed scarce errors done not force, qualified intelligently the cut reverse with aggressive shots to two hands and hit the so much flat as effective right to different angles of the court. They were 137 impeccable minutes where its only point feble was the service, that the Russian broke in four opportunities.

That 7-5, 7-6 and 3-1 it marked a before and a later in the match. And in the emotional state of Massú. A match so well directed that was twisted of unforeseen for four bad right and a pair of double faults: the distance between the sky and the hell.

"I wanted to risk, I played it me and I finished mistaking me. The, on the other hand, grew and was affirmed. It is difficult to express what I feel, I am very embittered", confessed immediately afterwards.

Al the same as in the Australian Open, Massú lost in five sets a match of favorable procedure. But this time the fall was so much or more painful, perhaps comparable to the rout with Radek Stepanek (6-7, 7-6, 7-5) in the third one of the Masters Series of Miami. It is that in right land of the season to waste occasions as this hurts, and a lot.

Today for the present, Nicolas has a he trap that he is not tenístico but mental. He is playing acceptably and during the year he had large moments -he played four ends in clay and was the tennis player with more triumphs on that surface-, but in its head something is not functioning when should close the matches. Serious or not? Worrying by the repeated thing, but perfectly reversible for an experienced player, and whose greater virtue is its clarity to confront tactically the matches.

Massú does not say it, but is desolate. Is a winning type and wanted to close the year among the 20 first of the world. Still it would be able to obtain it with an outstanding action in the Masters Series of Madrid and Paris, but is subject to a good drawing -will not be head of series- and triumphs in the initial rounds that provide it of necessary confidence to go for the greater robbery.

"I have to raise the head and to focus me in the tournaments that come. In Paris I have done third round a couple of times and in Madrid I arrived at the end with less experience. It is a difficult moment, but I have the necessary force to replace me. In these moments I do not think about the ranking, only I think about leaving behind this type of routs", he commented, conscious of his real problem.

This Friday will be a special day for Massú. This in full New York, the capital of the world, and without having nothing that to do. It was not planned in double next to Juan Ignacio Chela and promised not to come al club to try to be cleared. "Nico", you see you of shopping by Manhattan, al rises Umpire State and eat you a hot dog in the Fifth Avenue. It forgets that is costing you to close the matches and returns with all to coach. Just as you promised when the recorders had themselves dull and were you walking for the walkway.

Article in Radio Cooperativa - good to hear him so positive. But I wish he would say why he's not playing at all in September - I still have no clue why he would do something like that....it makes absolutely no sense at all.

From Radio Cooperativa:

The viñamarino declared that is found playing good level and optimist in the possibility of adding confidence was shown in which he reduces of season.

In the middle of the incessant rain that is dropped in New York and that he impedes the normal development of the US Open, the Chilean Nicolas Massú (41º of the ATP) wait that the haste abate to enter to play in the picture of double, although in its mind still wanders the loss before Mikhail Youzhny by the second rounds. Despite it, the viñamarino sight forward and has faith in recovering his level.

"I was specular for two years in 2003 and 2004, last year was complicated by the injury and this year has been quite good, but I lack the cherry of the torta (????) . Does not yet it finish, but one has to be seeking that the moment be given and can be remained without doing nothing and to say 'ojala that be lucky'. The moments come and one must take advantage of", said the Olympic champion.

Massú trusts in the recovery and already aims at the indoor season. "Always it is hard to lose, above all in the way in which was, but remains me the double here and later comes the tournaments indoor, where does two or three years I played very well, so I am hopeful in those tournaments.

The pupilo of Gabriel Markus added that his objective aims at to finish among the 20 better than the world, for in 2007 to become in the fight by entering the top ten.

"My idea is to finish 20 for later try to be among the 10. A match does not go me to change a lot, but logically that one with each party that earns, desire in confidence. I feel that I am playing well, and I am very near the player visionary that in some moments of the year I was", sentenced.

Massú also referred al good moment that Fernando González (11º) lives, who is maintained alive in the US Open for and to the doors to become among the 10 better than the ATP.

"It is what always I have said. Always when to a friend goes well or another person that one esteem, one is going to be happy, but one has clear that the sport is thus. It is very difficult to be seven, eight, nine or 10 years in a row in the same level", explained. (Cooperative.cl)

Ernesto, get out of here!

(¡Plop!)
