Default Design a player that could regularly compete/beat Nadal on clay

What aspects of what players would you combine to form a player that could regularly beat Nadal on clay? Or at least be highly competitive over, say, 10 matches on that surface with him.

Let's limit it to players active since Nadal joined the tour.

Default Re: Design a player that could regularly compete/beat Nadal on clay

Isner's serve

Del Potro's forehand

Djokovic's backhand

Davydenko's return of serve

Llodra's net play

Federer's footwork/movement

That should do the trick

Peak Soderling.

Player need to be strong of both wings with a particularly solid two hander. Also needs to a mentally tough.

Beating healthy Nadal is as impossible as dividing by zero

Garin...

Pretty obvious Nadal's clan are building this kid up and well set it up so Nadal passes the torch to him at a future Roland Garos.

1 - Non-choking Federer.
2 - Federer with a flatter backhand.
3 - Federer with a better return.
4 - Non-choking Davydenko.
5 - Primebandian.
You chose all of them would spank Rafa 0 , 0 and 0 even on clay.

It depends on the year. 2011 Djokovic beat 2011 Nadal. There are a couple others like Zeballos & Gaudio. But against 2008 Nadal it is hard to say.

Yup Nadal never loses when healthy.

I think the thread title should be changed to " Design a player that could regularly compete/beat an injured Nadal on clay "
