Re: 2013 Live Commentary
Ever since Gulbis got mad at EDV's grunting, EDV hasn't been the same

He looks good off the backhand wing but the forehand is dropping short of the service line at times. It's a bit of a shocker.

Aren't you seeing it now? The good results Ernests got 2 or 3 years ago were him getting hot for a week (or even less) and then dropping his level again. What I'm seeing now is consistent work and willingness to fight for every point that should last.

Or long, especially when hitting forehands on the run

Re: 2013 Live Commentary
Gulbis is mad at Vasselin for not apologizing after that wind shot for 30-30 before he got broke in the 1st set

He seems to be working harder and it was good to see him push Berdych and Del Potro but the reality is that he still lost both matches. I'm not going to check, but I don't think any of his opponents have been inside the top 30 this week?
It's OK to praise him when things are seemingly going well, but his true test will be when things start to go badly.

I think he beat Haas and Querrey? His forehand is disgusting, but I think he'll fare better now.

Querrey and Haas.
*Which player served 5 aces in a row from *040? I heard Isner was involved, but against (probably) who?

Haas and Querrey are both in top 20.

Re: 2013 Live Commentary
No intensity in Gulbis right now. He better not have a lapse in concentration because ERV is playing like he wants this (even though he is by far the inferior player)

I think Querrey and Haas are in the top 30. But anyway, you said your piece about "top 30 at best" as if we had any reason to believe Gulbis will stay on this level. I don't think so, I think he will go higher the way he's been going higher and higher since the start of the season. He lost some matches in challengers, he definitely wasn't playing top 30 level tennis there but now he is closer to that. With more wins, more matches and more confidence his level should be going up.
