He's on the entry list for Marseilles.

This. That little ATP500 event didn't exactly break the big news

I think Jo is doing a Murray now (i.e. only caring for Slams).

Maybe you'll get Roger-Simon. Simon pushing to infinity and Roger spraying UEs.
Just kidding.

Yeah I know that. In general, him being a threat to Fed is a given. I should have been more specific. But yeah, I was talking about Tsonga after his AO efforts. He didn't look too flash during DC, and based on that, I wouldn't have thought he would have put up a good showing against Fed - even if he did get there.
Quote:
Hmmm.. Yep Tsonga wasn't at his best, but how about a little credits for his opponent?
Sijsling was fantastic, especially in that 3rd set.
Everyone in the crowd expected him to fold after losing that 2nd set (even more - right after not being able to convert three BPs halfway that set, whereafter he started to mess up), but damn no, this guy was out for blood this evening!
Sheer joy to witness his attacking S/V playing style work out so well.
The daily tournament journal headed "Could Sijsling be able to stunt against Tsonga?" that very morrning. Sijsling commented that it would be a very tough job, and that his draw was very hard, "but it could have been even worse". He obviously was in good spirits already before the match, and it payed off.
Sijsling's biggest victory to date and I hope he'll be able to back it up with a couple more wins here in Rotterdam. With the level of play he displayed yesterday evening, the bloke surely belongs at least in the top-50. Get it done, Igor.
|
Come on now. 'Me' and 'giving credit to opponents' is a given, regardless of whether I say that or not in my posts . I mean, yes Igor could have folded, but across the net was Tsonga afterall - and you know what he's like during these moments. But yeah, I suppose he did bring the size in Sijsling, especially in the 3rd. He would have gotten a massive boost of confidence after his AO campaign in doubles, and no doubt it helped him cross the line here. With his old school playing style, he's definitely an enjoyable player to watch - just needs to cut down the errors and he'll be a solid contender. That said, it was an excellent victory for him. And I can see why you're excited - the Dutchies are doing pretty good lately. Congrats

No way. Ferrer is overrated, the most recent proof of that being that while all the good players will be in Marseille next week (and some in Memphis) he's run away to Buenos Aires just to avoid getting exposed by good players amd try to get a title against a Mickey Mouse field
