French opens no but for sure he has won a lot of matches playing worse than that, including against some of the best players.

anyway, it's his first tournament and he will improve, but yes what you said before is possible : maybe he will not lose anymore on clay this year, maybe, anyway I don't find his performance today worrying at all for a first tournament after a 6-month absence

I saw Zeballos losing a challenger final to Marcos Daniel about four years ago, now the guy goes and wins his maiden ATP title against Rafa on slow clay

Horacio was definitely the better player and did an amazing last game but I feel Rafa should have won this somehow, still it was a great week for him to come back after such a long layoff.

And this doesn't really change much for the european clay season, Rafa will be in a much better form there IMO.

Congrats to Zeballos, Rafa

What does Roger have to do here? you're just trying to create wank by answering to Rafahaters.

(And for the record, the Swiss is far much more vulnerable on indoor than Rafa is on clay, so I wouldn't be surprised if either Jerzy or Juan Martin beat him there)

probably they will think there's something wrong with the ATP site. Scoreboard has the final result but main news still stuck on "Rafa pushed to a third set in Vina final"

You can't play at 110%

His movement will get better with time - given how much he improved from his first match to today I think he has plenty of time to regain his top level.

Rather than focusing on Rafa, maybe folks should congratulate Horacio.
Well said.

It will be interesting. The key problem that I find on this new Nadal is the mobility on court: he doesn't cover the baseline as well as before, it is something that is easy to understand because he was seven months without playing but this is the thing that he has the most far from his 2012 version.

I'm saying this because, as you say, indoor clay is supposed to be faster, and he will need to have a better court coverage than in Vińa del Mar, where the conditions where slower than a current clay court speed.

Regards.

Has it been confirmed yet that Nadal was injured, or is this the first loss of his career when healthy?

Nadal played to players who just bowed out to him in this tournament till to final. He did not
expect Zeballos to last so long to the last point. The same happened at Wimbledon with Rosol.
Nadal still lives in the sky.All his career Rafa chased Federer he just does not know what is to be chased or hunted on his beloved clay for eight long years, I hope more players try to do
what Zeballos did. So that clay season would not be boring.

Incredible!
Didn't expect him to win more than 5-6 games... Just well done!

BTW, Zeballos lost a set in the first round here to Diego Schwartzman, 6-1.
