Re: Vina del Mar Final: Zeballos stuns Nadal 6-7(2), 7-6(6), 6-4
Nadal will improve yes but damn he's going to need to make some leaps to really contend for the French.
Presentation was epic.

No shame at all in Rafa losing to a brilliant Zeballos. How do you all rate Rafa's last few games? Any noticeable improvement? How long is it going to take him to get back to peak form?

Just imagine the reaction of fans who weren't able to watch this when they check the result.

It's hard to say. The way he plays allows guys who get hot to outplay him- he's always been that way.

Let me guess:
"Rafa is done"
"Rafa should retire, he'll get double bagelled by Djoker and even Murray"

Zeballos had to play at 110% to beat nadal here. nadal played some amazing points but Zeballos was too good today.
Sao Paulo's field is tougher and being indoor clay may mean the surface is faster. Let's see how nadal fares in his 2nd tournament back after injury.

Hard to see Nadal losing but it worth the time (the time that didn't worth the match agains Chardy ). Happy to see Rafa back playing tennis, happy to see that he is improving match by match and happy to see that the effort from Zeballos has its reward.
I'm a new Zeballos fan today, not because I'm a hater or something like that (it will be ilogical as I'm a Nadal supporter). It is because he played unbelievable (yesterday against Berlocq he played a good match too) and because he has a one-handed backhand (not as beautiful as Gasquet but very nice, flat and effective).

Re: Vina del Mar Final: Zeballos stuns Nadal 6-7(2), 7-6(6), 6-4
Those thinking this match has any bearing on RG are deluded. Nadal did not play badly for someone playing his 4th singles match on tour in 7 months. He's won claycourt finals playing worse than today. Zeballos was just on fire - served incredibly & every shot was going in. It happens. Nadal will see the positives I'm sure. His movement will get better with time - given how much he improved from his first match to today I think he has plenty of time to regain his top level.
Rather than focusing on Rafa, maybe folks should congratulate Horacio.
