Nadal and Lefties
nadal has an interesting deal with lefties:
record vs. lefties: 63-6 .913
that is an insanely good record vs. lefties! but why is it? wouldn't lefties be worse of a match up for him because he naturally hits to their forehand? it just doesn't make sense to me... is it due to the lack of high level lefties?
here's the list of lefties who have beaten him:
Verdasco
Melzer
Guccione (by retirement)
Lopez x2
Labadze (by withdrawal)
Muller
also, which lefty do you predict will beat nadal next?

Yup spot on. Even those players you've mentioned who have beaten him are all considered mugs.

Re: Nadal and Lefties
If Federer was left handed, he would have 61 slams.

Re: Nadal and Lefties
He has an insane record against lefties because they're a lot less talented as players than him (in terms of achievements) and because he plays them on clay quite a bit.

If Nadal had Karlovic's serve he would have 61 slams maybe too.

not having to play against himself helps a lot
seriously what is federer and djokovic's record against every left handed player except nadal? must be something like 100-0, right?

Exactly, if Fed and Djoko don't have such a great record against lefties is because they have to face Nadal. If you take their record against lefties that aren't Nadal, it would be pretty much the same.

Not as good as that. Djokovic is 52-26 against lefties, so 38-7 if we remove Nadal. Federer is better - 93-29 means 83-11 without Nadal.

Federer lost to Melzer at MC-10. As I remember before that last time he lost to left handed player (except Rafa) was 8 years ago.
Don`t know about Novak.

Re: Nadal and Lefties
With Nadal, we know more than twenty of those were versus Verdasco and Lopez combined. He's generally superior to them, and I think there are added mental forces at work there.
Others are right that Fed's numbers are skewed because of Nadal.
It's interesting, really, aren't Roddick and Hewitt also among the top five of the Open Era versus lefties?
Edit:
A quick search says so:
http://www.atpworldtour.com/Reliabil...reer-List.aspx
Most other names are expected. Fed sits at #9. Murray, perhaps surprisingly, sits as high as #13. I don't see Djokovic on there.

Re: Nadal and Lefties
There just aren't many great lefties this generation
Best is Verdasco and that's a disaster match-up

But it's okay, because the top 10 playing more is good for the game!
