They're both at 11 slams right? Borg's Wimbledon pedigree gives him the edge, even though he didn't win the USO. AO was not as prestigious in his time so you can't fault him for not playing it.

ah Borg. I started watching tennis because of him when I was 12 yo... memories. My only true hero. I was devastated and depressed when he retired so young. He was more popular than some rock stars. If he had just bothered to play the AO, if he had kept playing for a few more years, he would've ended up with many more slams. if, if, if ... Sorry about my little tirade about Borg  .

nadal would struggle to get to the RG QF in Borg's era. In fact, he would even struggle playing the game with a wooden racquet.

On clay Nadal is better than Borg. Outside of clay Borg was better. I expect Nadal to end with at least 8 RGs. But Borg won 5 Wimbledon titles and many titles on indoor carpet. Overall Borg was the better player. Nadal will go down in history as the clay GOAT.

Yes, Nadal is the clay goat, but Borg was an overall better player. For now.
Winning 6 Roland Garros and 5 Wimbledons (in a row) during those years is one of the most impressive achievements in the open era. |
