Okay, Delpo can win another GS, right?
That hapless wrist injury took him off guard for a good year and a half, and it couldn't have come at a worst time. Surely Delpo can triumph and snatch another GS? I mean, I hope he can.

Well, it could have come before the 2009 US Open, in which case he'd now be at a very serious risk of ending his career Slamless. At least breaking his wrist/having surgery after winning a Slam ensures that whatever happens at least he has a Slam to his name - the pressure is off and he can play and manage his career far more freely than if ending Slamless was a real prospect.

Del Po won't probably win another meaningful tournament let alone a slam.

True. He just had such striking momentum after his USO win. A shame to see him injured at the most vital stage of his career where he was playing incredible tennis.

Yeah, it was horrible indeed and extremely frustrating. But at least he had an amazing comeback after surgery and is playing very good tennis. Let's just hope he can stay clear of injury as far as possible to maximize his chances.

Well, that's the thing. He jumped back into the top ten - in what felt like - no time whatsoever. There's just so much agile competition now. Surely, at his young age of 24, a few more GS's are possible. Hopefully his peak is still ahead of him.

Like every slam champ, there is always another chance to snap up another slam. Safin is a good example on the mens side, Kuznetsova on the womens.

If murray can win RG then I guess Del Potro can win the CYGS.

Don't know about another Slam, but he surely does have a nice chance to win another Estoril title.

Re: Okay, Delpo can win another GS, right?
Of course he can if he fins the confidence in himself and plays the level he did in 09... In my opinion I don't think the wrist injury is the issue right now for Delpo, it's the mental issues that come after such a long lay off. I mean think about it, he broke through in 2009, managed to leap ahead of Murray/Djokovic who were threatening Fedal's domination, and beat Fedal in a row to win his slam... then the wrist injury came. Whilst he was out, Djokovic and Murray improved, and Nadal probably did on Hard Courts as well, and Federer didn't exactly slow down. So for DelPo coming back with all these improvements these guys have made, he's always wondering now how he can't beat them, wary of how much they've come on whilst he's been out, so it's kind of a struggle for him.

Yeah this.
Scrub 500s and 250s is all he's really good for. It is a shame that his fluke win in 2009 has given people such unrealistic expectations.
He is a nice guy though and I hope one day that he might get a chance at winning a Masters. Not getting my hopes up though.

In my opinion, no !
Djokovic is better than him on every surface, Murray also (except maybe on clay)...

Re: Okay, Delpo can win another GS, right?
He has some serious flaws in his game, its hard to see him wining 2 tough games b2b verus Nole and Rafa for example, and grabbing GS. He would need luck on his side, and a lots of it

Re: Okay, Delpo can win another GS, right?
Can't see him as a top favorite for a slam in the coming two years, but he is definitely in the 2cnd category in my opinion. After that who knows? Young guns might be better, or Djokovic, Nadal and Murray might stay at the top, but it is just a likely in my opinion that two of those three guys go down and Delpo becomes a solid top2 player for a couple of years and then of course win some more slams.
