That means you cheered for Ferrer then?

Isn't it great how cocky and wide-mouthed those young talents are?
Full contrast to our "so devoid of personality" top players.
MTF just acquired the heroes it deserves!

Points from Masters: Ferrer 2160, del Potro 1520 (+640)
Points from small tournaments: Ferrer 1890, del Potro 1840 (+50)
But it's okay, because the top 10 playing more is good for the game!

Not "all". I don't mind these kind of interviews at all. He's entitled to both his opinions and his mistranslations.

The honesty is refreshing, I'd prefer to see more interviews like this one from players.

So what you say is that Safin as a politician has to hide some things because he has to "think" about the consequences, conflicting interests and power situations.
FYI Federer is the president of the players' council, he's not any player who can shout without having any political job to do and only thinking of his own interests.
Beside that, Fed in my eyes is a real man as much as Safin. But that I don't expect you to say anything objective on that

and in the meantime as the French Tennis Federation and French newspapers keep on blaming Federer for being the only responsible for the prize money which they have to increase, even claiming that he asks for that only for his individual interest ...
Yes, that's how things go : it's never good to take political responsibilities for one's popularity in the eyes of emotional people.
Janowicz like a few other players just saw Nadal shout for a boycott, whereas Fed was cautious and asked the players to cool down and that boycott threats were a bit premature, and in his mind he has this emotional picture printed, and he judges according to it.
That's emotional primary judgment and he was not the only player reacting like that.
It was actually good politics from Nadal, as far as his own popularity was concerned, except that his goals finally failed for a two-year ranking system despite the support of most top-10 players of the time (his call to change the calendar and have the WTF right after the US Open seemed to be progressing until recently where the recent news have not looked as encouraging for that plan) ... but for the goal at stake for lower-ranked players, the slam prize money, Fed took a bigger part ... even though clearly boycott threats helped the claim a lot.

Personally, I like him just as much, and am actually not surprised : he looked that kind of emotional character from the start. He's nice in his sincerity and emotions, but as I said, I wouldn't rely on him to understand our world better.
By the way, Safin has never looked as sincere to me as Janowicz does, and he also has always looked much smarter.
