This is the exact reason why I never wanted Murray to succeed. Utter bullshit spouted all the time by the British media.

It certainly was one of my main reasons why I've always hated Murray.

British media hype him up as if he is a GOAT candidate.

If he's saying that his specific number three seeding is the reason as he had to play both number one and two then that's a little silly, Federer at number two would have to do the same. However if he's mentioning that Murray's chances were slimmer due to him having to play and beat both of the top two or three in sucession then he has a point when you compare him to Djokovic who had to beat none of the top three and faces no challenge or huge match up like Murray and Federer pose on the way to his win.

to be a man you need to go through berdy, fed and whoever is in the finals (murray), like someone did at the AO 2011. so no whining please.

If Murray were the real world #2, he would have no problem beating the real World #3 and World #1 back to back, because he wouldn't have had to beat the World #2 and World #1 back to back - a task which, according to the writer, destroyed his chances of Murray winning the AO. In other words, this mug's "argument" is self-defeating.

And no, "most" people do not regard him as world #2 - unless "most" means some random British tennis journalist.

Isn't that a little ironic when compared to most other nations the British media are one of the harshest on some of their athletes. Murray has had an extremely tough time from the media and the general public because of the joke he made years ago, in a press conference, with Tim Henman, who is English.

It's not really that harsh. It's actually one of the best at glorifying mediocrity. Case in point; English national team. Also the critics of Murray from that interview were mainly casual tennis media and those who completely took the comments out of context. The proper sports media didn't really give it that much coverage.

Lol at Djokovic being second on grass and Murray fourth, seriously?

Also Murray below Federer at US? Just no, not anymore.

The article is pretty stupid. His seeding was not the reason he never won AO. However, Murray IS the real no.2.

More often than not though it is English media/the English public that put Andy down. They're not going to do the same to the England football team. And you can't compare the English football team to him either nor call his acheivements ''mediocre''. Are you telling me that if he was your son, his acheivements would just be mediocre?

Would've disowned him by now already.

Sorry, WHAT ANDY!?!

First of all, I really doubt you're the 2nd best player. I reaaaaaaaally doubt it.

But let's consider that as a fact, you are the 2nd best player and you got the number 2 seed.

In this AO, the number 2 seed got the number 3 seed in his half, so, you won't face Ferrer, you'd still face Federer in SF.
But not only that, you'd face a Federer who doesn't faced Tsonga in QF, and probably won in 3 easy sets over Chardy.
If a tired Federer took you 5 sets to defeat, you'd probably have lost in semis with that number 2 seeds. That considering Tsonga didn't whoop yor ass in QF, what I consider a posibility.

Whoever the hell said that must shut the fuck up.
