Yup, hopefully Troicki got some boost out of today's win, so he and Nenad can wrap it up tomorrow.

did he not...

Reaction from Rochus:
"Djokovic is used to playing on the best courts: centre court of Roland Garros, Wimbledon. So yes, the difference with this court is considerable. However, believe me, I've played on courts that are a whole lot worse than this one."

Reaction from Goffin:
"If he's afraid, he can always decide to not play."

I guess I will wait until next time to form an opinion. This might be just a false bravado. Rochus reaction is nice.

Novak was so blunt in the interview about the court I am surprised especially now a days he is being so diplomatic.

In the AO open I also did not mind about what Tomic said meeting Fed in the third round (I do not like Tomic). These players needs that cockiness. SO long as they do not disrespect other players that's fine I guess.

What Tomic said was actually true. No one could guarantee Federer would make the third round. Tomic was not sure he would make the third round himself. What he said was not disrespectful but was more his words taken out of context and made a headline. Who would think Nadal would not pass 2nd round in Wimbledon last year?

On the other hand, what Guffin said was very disrespectful. "If you're afraid, no need to play" toward the #1 who just won a slam. Djokovic was not tactful in his words but he said the truth. The court was bad and it could be better. The proof was the supervisor had a crew came in at night and improved the court. The court should be in that condition in the first place for players to practise.

Guffin should learn from Ollie in how to conduct himself. He is young and has lots to learn. Fortunate for him, it's Ollie to play the match vs Nole today and Nole may not need to play on Sunday. Otherwise, I am sure Nole will give him a lesson he won't forget.

As I said earlier, he could've given comments in a milder way, like he did via his FB. But I strongly doubt it was smack talk from Nole. You are away, going to play against the home crowd and the favorite to win the tie. You know people don't like whiners. There was no motive for him to be like that, if the court construction hadn't been done so poorly. It's not like he complained because the court wasn't suitable for his play style. Taking a risk of getting injured is a big deal. I guess he felt the need to be forthright, so the Belgian organizers had to react to that. And they repaired the court as much as they could over the night accordingly. Nole showed genuine concern about the conditions and if they improve the situations, it's good for every player, not just for the Serbs. Really, such a remark from Goffin wasn't needed, especially if ITF indeed wasn't happy with the preparation, either.

As for Tomic, I think he's getting abused by the Australian press in a way. So actually I'm rather indifferent toward him, even when he said 'nothing can stop me' (?) after the win vs Nole.

Maybe in theory, but in reality the last time Fed didn't make R3 at AO was 14 years ago. And the last time Fed didn't make R3 of any slam was 10 years ago. I'm far from being a Fed fan, but such consistency is pretty much mind-blowing. Of course, there's always first time for everything, but Tomic got both straight-setted and breadsticked, so I guess not this time

Yea, good points all. If the court is dangerous, then the organizers deserve all the flack they get. The way Julien Benneteau got injured on court in MC last year was nothing short of frightening. And it's not like Belgium is some third world country who can't afford a proper court

Maybe if Goffin didn't idolize Federer so much, he wouldn't make silly comments like that .

Comfortable win for Nole today, glad to see him play so well less than a week after his slam win.... Massive win for Troicki as well, huge confidence boost.

Well, Nole idolizes Sampras but the way he plays is far from Sampras. Same for personality.
