I did this one because it's Australian Open season and topical but when RG comes around I may pick a past RG and dissect it. Cheers for the feedback anyway

I second this. AO 2005 would be great.

AO 2005 was a great slam especially if you're a Safin fan. He demolished everyone until the SF, beat Federer and then came back to play lights out tennis against prime Hewitt in the final.

I just reviewed some AO videos from past several years (finals only), and this year the court definitely felt a bit faster.

I tried to find the mock thread about AO getting faster... it seems that it was correct.

Of course, according to MTF speed experts, it was slower than ever.

The match against Federer was delicious. Memorable stuff. Yeah, a great slam although I have never been a fan of Safin.

Also, AO 2008 and Tsonga's amazing run to the finals and demolition of Rafa on his way was some quality stuff to watch.

remember it so well, Henman-Rusedski and Sampras-Escude 3rd round night matches, epics

remember waiting up till like 2am as BBC was showing Henman v Bjorkman, confident Timbo was making his first ever AO QF, then he starts match with a DF, gets broke and gets smashed in straight sets by Jonas returning serve like a maniac

typical.

funny how Henman as 6th seed was highest ranked player left in the draw at 4th round lol, will never see something like that again in a slam for many years

1 of top 8 in the QF

Yeah this thread just made me realise I've never watched a Henman AO match live of on TV. His record must be pretty terrible.

Wasn't Tim v Greg a night match as well?

He blew a huge opportunity especially given he owned Johansson in the head to head.

IIRC Henman came back and beat Bjorkman in a DC match a month or so later as well.

16 seed beats 9 in the final. If this year had been a parallell we'd see Nishikori beating Gasquet.

Being a nostalgiatard is not an excuse to come up with a thread talking about a lame grandslam event which happened 11 years ago.
