Maria, you probably know that we are preparing for the euro. It's been one of the main news items for months already. Many people want to keep the lat so the government is trying hard to explain again and again and again why euro would be good for us. It's been high drama with some people threatening to organize a referendum And the opposition are saying that the coalition parties are "brainwashing" the people regarding euro

Well, the fact is our prices have skyrocketed while the salaries not.
Easier for trade and accounting and of course travel but otherwise meh. Our people are calmer though. Our techers and doctors striked last year which was huuuuge but otherwise people just leave the country to find a better-paying job. Not gonna tell you about our government scandals, corrupt as corrupt can be but whatever, I won't probably bother to vote until something changes.
We happened to join euro right in the middle of the crisis but nothing could be changed any more.

Evita, dunno if the referendum aka staying with the lat would help, we also had the pressure on kroon for devaluation so *they* decided it was better to join the sinking euro instead.
I don't have grandparents alive but their generation has survived 7 money reforms, I guess I'm gonna survive somehow too, even post-euro.

Well to be precise the inflation wasn't caused by switching to euro, more like by the global econimic reasons.
