MInd you, I did see Lindt chocolate as well, so their taste in food is indeed flawed but still...

It is quite incredible how Godiva is everywhere, though. It's not our best chocolate. Then again, Heineken beer sells world wide quite well and that tastes like dish water.

I take it that your trip to NYC was fine?

I never understood the fascination with NYC

Although considering the American other cities maybe people have a point....

The pics were gorgeous, though

I'm one of the few who was a bit underwhelmed by NYC.

Don't get me wrong, it's a great city. Favorite places: the Brooklyn Bridge and Grand Central Station, the main hall. I'm very happy that I visited it but I didn't leave NYC thinking "OMG, that's just the greatest city in the world. I can't wait to get back" like many seem to do. Maybe it's because my expectations for NYC were too high to begin with.

For some reason, Chicago holds an attraction for me.

Pics?
Edit: Ah, the Swiss cottage.

You bunch of knurfs NYC really has it all, there is nothing you can't get there, the melting pot there of people makes it such an open minded city, and on top of that one of the safest in the world.

Takedown Twenty follows the same old recipe so there are zero surprises in it but it's a fun and easy read about those characters again: Lula (a favorite character of mine), grandma Mazur, Ranger (I prefer Ranger to Morelli)
Absolutely it's formulaic but I was worried it would be awful like that other non-Stephanie book. I'm glad it followed the format and was a nice quick read.

I never wear slippers and therefore have never had that problem. Once when I was really young (and don't remember this), we were moving to a new house and my dad packed all - and I mean all - of my mom's shoes. Of course, the boxes of shoes were at the farthest end of the packed truck. So she had to go to the lawyer's office to finalize the paperwork for the new house in her slippers.

I like American cities. Maybe it's because they're my neighbours and I've visited many of their cities throughout my life, one major one in particular that I consider my American "home." I don't have much experience with European cities, but I like our North American ones. While they may not be as old or prestigious as some European ones, they have a culture all their own.

Beautiful pictures, JM, as usual!

I'm going to ignore JM's leftie-baiting.

As for New York, I live in London, so while I do want to visit NYC, it's mostly to go to the US Open. New York is like London but more so, and I need less of that, not more.

Chris, as you'll get older you'll surely dump those leftie ideologies... That has never brought anything good to any developed civilization.

While I like London, NYC is in another league to me. Nothing comparable. So many good sides about NYC. As for the US Open, the Meadows Park in nice and all but the Queens neighbourhood not so much so you'd want to stay in Manhattan anyway...

I'm 36 this year JM and if anything I'm becoming more left wing when I see the pitiless way right wing ideology is implemented and used to protect the rich and oppress everybody else.

I'm definitely keen to start going to visit quieter places and more nature rather than the concrete jungles that I'm constantly surrounded by.

We have the ulta liberal economic jungle but also looooooooots of undisturbed nature, fewer & fewer people so you should come to Estonia then.
I see Cameron would rather deport those poor Estonians that have emigrated to the UK.
