Yeah, I'm sure an era where Troicki gets as close as one can get to enter the top 10 is a very strong era indeed.

An era with Nadal, Djokovic and Federer is a very strong era.

Just the fact Edberg had to face Becker to win slams already means you had two legend of the sport playing against each other. Djokovic had to wait until 2011 with Federer old to start winning his other 4 slams.

MTF

Djokovic is in the same level as Becker and Edberg but will win more GS slams because we are entering a transitional era.
yes we are entering 'a transitional era' ... before Tomic takes over, wins 40 slams and rules
oh, boy just when I think I heard it all, now this ... whatever dude.

3 players make an era strong?

Especially such limited players?

Whilst the very top of the game looks strong, when you go below say top 10 the depth is sparse. Only explanation for Monaco being top 10, Troicki almost being top 10 and Bogomolov being a GS seed. This shit wouldn't happen in previous eras. Bogomuglov is the worst GS seed ever probably.

My thoughts exactly. The 1980 players v. 2013 players comparison is equally idiotic.

Well I guess when Djokovic was 21 or 22 he could have won some slams just like Becker and Edberg did when facing Lendl or Wilander, but I suppose his ability to beat Federer-Nadal from 2008-2010 is ultimately comparable of those of Becker and Edberg in their younger careers right?

Not to mention that both Edberg and Becker split 6 grand slams in the same era, I wonder that if you really consider Djokovic to be as big as a legend of those players than Murray bust be as good as them for Djokovic really beat another " legend" right?

So of course, Murray is as good as Becker and Edberg, and Djokovic beat him and surpassed them all now.

It's certainly stronger than a few years ago when not even 3 players were contending for a slam.

The 90's wasnt a mugfest, 90-95 was as good as today: late Lendl, Sampras, Agassi, Becker plus Courier Edberg Krajicek sometimes, Chang maybe even Ivanisevic on grass was as good as today, at least., or better.

Tsonga, Berdych and Ferrer arent better players than, lets say, Courier, Krajicek and Chang.

It was probably evens.
95-2000 was probably weaker though.

90s surfaces were so diverse comparisons are nigh on impossible.

It was harder to dominate back then, but easier to sneak a slam if you were an expert on one surface.

It's harder to sneak a slam now, but easier to dominate across the board if you can because of the homogenised surfaces.
