This boring baseline muppet Djokovic wouldn't even crack the top ten in Edberg and Becker's eras. A true joke of a player, respected only by bandwagoners, teenyboppers and nationalistic idiots.

Becker and Edberg were part of an era that included Lendl and Wilander not to mention the end of the McEnroe and Connors era and start of Sampras and Agassi era.

Would not call that a mug era.

The question is silly because by retirement Djokovic will have surpassed them.

Winning a major against Sampras/Lendl/Wilander is at least 10 times more valuable than winning a slam against nobodies like Murray and Nadal.

Edberg and Becker had to deal with few generations of different superstars with very different playing styles :Connors,Lendl, McEnroe,Wilander,Courier,Sampras,Agassi not to mention Chang, Stich, Cash,Ivanisevic.Plus - they had to beat each other , which was tough task itself.

Djokovic right now has only declining 31 y.o. Fed and not so brilliant Murray as serious opponents. Even Nadal is conveniently out of picture for some time now.To say this grinding between 2 quite boring baseliners is golden era of tennis is a huge mistake.Maybe Ferrer as permanent slam semifinalist is sign of Golden era also ?
Exactly.

Doesn't matter - stats don't show how weak his competition is.

I agree.

Fans of Federer, Nadal and Djokovic have all used the "weak era" and "mug era" to elevate their favourite players status and the theory applies going into the tennis past.

Winning where you face Fed on hard and Nadal on clay >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lendl/Wilander

Another useless thread with no predicted conclusion unless Djokovic wins more slams.
But then next pointless topic will launch immediately.

Just because you don't know much about tennis' history and you have no respect for it, it doesn't make your bizarre statements true.

Mug era has the be the most asinine argument on MTF. Players are born into an era and play accordingly. He'll most likely surpass them because of his 2011 season.

Of course not. Edberg had to face many great players in the end of the 80's, and now Djokovic faces a tired Federer and a injured Nadal.

Just the fact Edberg had to face Becker to win slams already means you had two legend of the sport playing against each other. Djokovic had to wait until 2011 with Federer old to start winning his other 4 slams.

MTF

Djokovic is in the same level as Becker and Edberg but will win more GS slams because we are entering a transitional era.

Why don't you stop watching tennis if you hate it so much..? Watch the old games and stop trolling, you come across as very pathetic...
