Isner's forehand is actually excellent, especially inside out. It's his backhand that is such a liability.

What keeps Nole's forehand down is that on grass, it sucks. It breaks down easily, against Berdych it was shocking.

Low balls bother him. He's great at hitting hard on high balls but on low balls he can't get power behind the forehand as easily. His forehands to low slices are very average generally.

On topic, Djokovic has the better forehand. More power and can control play with it.

Murray has a better pass, especially crosscourt.

Consistency, I'd say they're about even. Murray might be slightly more consistent but on the other hand he is a slightly more defensive player than Djokovic.

Don't really know what Typhoon/Whatever is rambling about Murray's forehand being deeper. If you had to choose one attribute that separates Djokovic's game from other pros and what makes him a top player it's the deepness of his shots. Rarely do his shots drop inside the service line. Murray's forehand can drop short and the topspin is far less aggressive than Nole's making it a shot easier to attack.

Djokovic easily. But both guys forget at times to be aggressive off that side.

Murray can like...only go crosscourt with it =p

I genuinely feel Novak's extra variety on the forehand pass makes it at least a comparable weapon.

It's still pretty obvious Nole has the better overall forehand. But Nole struggles somewhat with low balls with the forehand, forehand return and the DTL forehand. Murray, on the other hand, has no real consistent strength with his forehand outside of the cross-court pass. His forehand was picked on by Nadal and he made quite a few errors with it at critical times. It's one of the weakest basic shots of the top 5 players and a huge obstacle in his attempts to win big matches over Fedal.

It's the weaker shot for both guys, but I think Djokovic's is better. Murray can't/won't consistently go down the line with it. Today against Nadal was just another example-there were so many points when the down the line was OPEN and Murray just spun his forehand cross court over and over again. Djokovic has times when his forehand can go totally off, but at least he is capable of thumping the ball crosscourt and down the line. Murray is the only guy in the top 10 who doesn't have the down the line forehand weapon.

Thank you

Murray's forehand showed what it can be if he puts power on it. A dangerous aggressive shot.
Today it was better than Djokovic's. Most of the time it is.

The AO final was a clear demonstration of how much better Djokovic's forehand is. His FH DTL, inside-out FH and inside-in FH are all weapons, and are all shots that Murray can't seem to consistently execute, hence he goes crosscourt most of the time (as has been pointed out already). Even there Djokovic is better, he generally gets more power and spin on his CC FH than Murray.

The only scenario in which Murray seems to be consistently offensive with his forehand is when he gets a weak reply from a (first) serve, and even then the opportunities are few and far between because of his relatively low 1s%.

This....especially the part about the CC, that's the only thing that was useful (good for defense/accuracy getting back in the point).

BURP. I love how this OP tried to bias everyone's vote by saying Andy Murray has a better forehand...and 92% is for Novak's hahaha.
