Every coach is companion, if you think that Lendl changed something big regarding Murray's tennis you'd be surprised. He probably changed something about Andy's approach to tennis, maybe some new drills and training routines but his biggest influence is probably about mindset and mentality since Ivan has great experience about that.

I don't know if Vajda is a great coach but it's certain that his presence and similar personality helps Novak a lot.

All time has come to mean in the past few years? Otherwise, Lundgren is the first name that pops to mind that is far ahead. Probably a few more or even better.

it's frustrating to see so many clowns thinking that lendl's influence on murray is only in his attitude. Murray has actually improved his technical abilities quite a bit. Lendl himself has acknowledged that. He's gained a lot of consistency with his forehand for starters.

Andy has always been quite talented so it was good that Lendl has managed to develop that talent.

Not Lungren, Cahill, or Gilbert?

They've each done the same things with other players that Lendl has done with Murray.

Lendl corrected Andy's head which is the most difficult job for any coach. The issue was not technical with andy, it was mainly mental. Murray was on the verge of sliding down the hill after successive defeats against Nadal and Djokovic in 2011. Give credit where it is due. It is because of Lendl's addition to his team that Murray has will be holding two slams shortly.

I'm no Fakervic fan but he needs to save tennis, sadly tree trunk legs will be fresh. Interesting he's never questioned...

Murray is very different from the pre-Lendl.

Took a bit of time, but Lindl seems to have switched something in Muzza mentally, also and i could be wrong, but i think he's the first coach that Muzza actually respects and takes on board his advice.

I disagree with those that think Lindl/Djoko combination would've worked, both are very different personalities.

I think Lendl and Murray are 2 peas in a pod they just go together similar career paths, work ethic, game styles ( to a degree). I just think Murray needed someone whose opinion he really values and respects. i dont think anyone else but Lendl could have helped Murray become the player he is today.

Lendl's job was not too difficult in some ways because Andy Murray is a phenomenal talent and pre- Lendl he had got to no 2 in the world reached 3 GS finals and won several MS titles.
It was that extra 10% mentally that Murray needed now he has found a way to get it its all clicking into place.

Hardly. Murray was going to click eventually and it's not like then USO was an example of an incredible turnaround. Federer looked woeful today and Nadal hasn't been around.

As well as that, the competition around him has fallen a bit, federer is a few years older now and nadal is obviously not around to kick him out at the semi-final stage of tournaments like he usually does

Surely you'd admit he'd helped him mentally compared to his first 3 slam finals where he brought the lube especially the third one- I thought he'd get routined by Djoker at last year's AO semi but the closeness of the match (one he could have won) was a huge turnaround. Without Lendl, he'd have probably been routined in both Olympic and USO finals.

Yeah, the SF against Djokovic last year was a really, really important match in Andy's career. It was the first time* that he really produced against a top player in a Grand Slam match. If any doubts had crept in that he wasn't quite good enough this match dispelled them.

* before anyone points out that he twice beat Nadal in the latter stages of a Slam, those matches were no where near this in terms of quality and didn't require him t dig deep like this one did.
