Re: AO SF: Djokovic feasts on Ferrer 6-2, 6-2, 6-1
Just blame Almugro for choking the QF, he should have been in this match instead.
Truth is Ferrer's form was bad for most of the tournament. He went in this match with the wrong strategy as well which added more humiliation to the scoreline

You discerned a strategy there? What was it, other than serve poorly and watch another backhand down the line go past after a short rally?

It's completely different in the Olympics to slams- all golds are worth equal value and all count towards a nation's totals. Therefore Federer is an Olympic champion, as is Wawrinka.

He was trying to out hit Djokovic which explains his UEs, went for too much too often
Not that it matters, he couldn't win this match

So Federer got the same amount of points in 2008 as Murray got last year?

The Olympics isn't about ranking points- it's about winning golds for your country and its team. Switzerland's doubles gold in 08 wasn't worth 0.5 golds just cause it was the doubles, it counted the way Nadal's did for Spain towards the national total.
But obviously if we're discussing his singles career then yes, he hasn't won the gold in that. But he is an Olympic champ.

You could make the same argument about slams, considering how heavily invested the UK was in Murray winning one. It's as if he won one for the UK instead of for himself.
But that's beside the point: a gold medal IS worth ranking points, thus making its value relative.

Yes, but let's put those 5 wins in context:
1. Romania 2004, on clay, Novak was 17 years old, ranked 272 and he still took a set off Ferrer
2. Montecarlo 2007. Straight sets for David. Good win
3. Masters Cup, Beijing: Nole was exhausted after having his breakthrough season, he had entered too many tornaments not expecting to go so deep in so many, so he didn't win a single RR match at the end of the season, although he had clinched the #3.
4. 2009, Davis Cup, Clay, Spain. Ferrer winning a Davis Cp match at home, not really a surprise.
5. WTF, London, 2011. Again, Nole exhausted after his fabulous 2011 season. Nole's end of the season was less than perfect, remember?
So yes, Ferru has beaten Nole 5 times. All credit to him, but one shouldn't give all of those wins the same weight when trying to make a fair assessment of how these 2 players stand with respect to each other.
It's a question of matchup: I think David has a real problem against the top players. I think of the big four, he would rather face Murray before anybody else. He has a better chance.

Fernando Gonzalez was gutsy in '04 Olympics singles and doubles.
Federer didn't like Wawrinka in Davis Cup ties so much, despite the Olympics.

Re: AO SF: Djokovic feasts on Ferrer 6-2, 6-2, 6-1
After this match Mugray and Olderer should just fly back to Scotland and Switzerland, the humiliation simply isn't worth it. Pusher or Old Man/Pink Shoes, it matters not. The humiliation delivered to either of them will be on epic level. Maybe they should team up and play as doubles team, maybe they'll take this Nole to one tie break

Re: AO SF: Djokovic feasts on Ferrer 6-2, 6-2, 6-1
What a waste of a semi final. I felt sorry for the people who bought tickets to that "match". I felt sorry for Djokovic having to carry the whole match – entertainment wise. The semis last year? THOSE were actual semi finals matches – even the four setter from Nadal/Federer. Last night's match isn't even good enough to be called a first round match. Almagro vs Djokovic would have been a more entertaining match,
