"Persistence is the twin sister to excellence. One is a matter of quality. The other, a matter of time."

Somewhere is the statement above lies the answer to the rise of Djokovic and many other elite athletes. Diet was only part of the puzzle imo. There is no magic diet/pill for success.

I don't think the egg will be enough to overcome Murray. Muzza is the king of harcourts and he'll show it again.

True, persistence is the key. Many may have talent and some may even be as Gencic put it "a golden child," but fail to overcome adversity. It took a lot of hard work for Novak to take full advantage of his gifts. Overcoming his early obstacles should be a lesson and inspiration for all of us.

are you giving up on Fed? Strange post. we need to see semis first and no chance that Muzza will play against Nole, it is Fed. unless you are assuming that Fed is doomed and doesn't have any chance against Mandy???

Murray is very impressive. I think Fed will handle Tsonga, but no way he beats Murray.

Murray is good but I think Djokovic can beat him here because this hardcourt surface is faster than last year.

Slower surface is better suited for Murray because of hi exceptional defense.

Also Djokovic beat Murray on both Shanghai and London.

Djokovic took set 6-4 against Berdych.

“Does Djokovic resemble myself?” Agassi said. “No, he is even better. He defends really well, while I struggled more in that element of the game. Novak looks totally relaxed when defending, completely calm and the quality of his return is incredible. He is also extremely flexible in his game, which is facilitated by his ability to anticipate his rival’s moves. That is why I think he is a much more versatile player than I was and he is also much more athletic.”

Any sane normal person knows that, even those who doubt him out of fear and insecurity. Novak has said it many times himself. The major change in Novak hasn't been physical, it has been mental. Actually, the less he thinks on court the better he plays. It happens to extremely intelligent people who can't act because they think too much.

Yeah, a faster court suits Nole more than Murray.

Agreed. In most professions, thinking is critical, but in sports, the less you think the better. Whenever a player says he/she was "in the zone", what they really mean to say is that he/she plays instinctively, without thinking, and pulls of all the shots he/she can think of without making any errors. Player usually has to think when things are not going his way, when he is forced to re-evaluate his tactic/game-plan. Thinking too much on the tennis court is not a good thing usually. It results in tight, nervous play and produces too many unforced errors. I'm not saying that players can never allow themselves to think on the court - indeed, sometimes it is necessary - but the need to think on the court is usually a symptom of things not going according to plan, and the sooner the instinct kicks in (after thinking/changing the tactic) the better.
