Re: AO R4: Murray warriors past Simon 6-3 6-1 6-3
It's a shame really, the match was finished before it started and Simon knew he had no chance in his condition and probably would rather not have played but had to make appearance. Murray in the semi without having to do much at all, good chance for a second slam.

 Murray warriors past Simon???
Please, nobody expected a tired exhausted Simon to win this - he's still feeling dead from his last match against Monfils.
What's surprising, is that Murray didn't triple bagel him. Now Chardy, take this trash out in the QF please!

Re: AO R4: Murray warriors past Simon 6-3 6-1 6-3
titanic struggle, murray narrowly prevailed. both were playing positive and offensive tennis, hitting winners from all positions. gilles was at its best, outplaying muzza for most of the match. muzza was a bit lucky in crucial moments, but such is tennis.

Simon never had a chance.
No way pushers like Monfis and Simon can beat top grinders like Djokovic Federer Murray and Nadal.

Novak looks totally relaxed when defending, completely calm and the quality of his return is incredible. He is also extremely flexible in his game, which is facilitated by his ability to anticipate his rival’s moves. That is why I think he is a much more versatile player than I was and he is also much more athletic.”

Re: AO R4: Murray warriors past Simon 6-3 6-1 6-3
Gilles Simon is a massive joke of a tennis player. He had lost this game before he even came on court, whining and complaining he was physically spent.
Just watch Novak Djokovic go on court against Berdych having played just as long as Simon played Monfills, and play like he is as fresh as a daisy. The reason Simon is pathetic is because his attitude stinks to high heaven. Useless.

this.
And what he expected from his match against Monfis? They play same kind of pushing tennis , both are just returning ball into game and feeding themselves on opponent errors . If he wanted to save energy he should switch from pushing to serve+volley or grinding gameplan.

Yep, Gilles has a lot of heart compared to guys like Tipsy etc.

Murray and Federer have easiest draw on AO.

Re: AO R4: Murray warriors past Simon 6-3 6-1 6-3
I actually wish Murray would have had more of a test in these earlier rounds because cruising like this will not prepare him for the end stages of this event.
Still, glad to see him through, and lots of respect (and admiration) for Simon, who came out here and soldiered through his fatigue.

Think you need to get that sarcasm detector checked out buddy
As good as it needed to be from Muzz. Will have plenty of energy in reserve for the rest of the tournament, though the only worry is the draw might be too easy for him, particularly going into the potential semi against Fed
