Re: Philipp Petzschner
Kas/Wassen d. Becker/Petzschner 7-6(4) 6-2
What a collapse at *2-2 30-0.
Now in Dresden it looks like a Kas/Petzschner reunion is coming, as Kas is in qualies!

Re: Philipp Petzschner
Thanks, JMG! The shoulder is a bit worrying, especially if he keeps playing singles and doubles. :-/
@Raul: after his win 6-4 6-4 over Economidis, he says that the pain in the shoulder which has been bothering since last week wasn't too bad, luckily. And about the doubles with Kas: "We both want to qualify for Wimbledon, that's why we need to reach the semi-final at least". They won together in Dresden in 2005 and reached the final in 2006. They play against the Austrian Melzer brothers today. Two buddies vs. two brothers - let's see which team has the best chemistry.
And he'll play the qualifier Boy Westerhof (NL) in the 2nd round in singles.

Re: Philipp Petzschner
A singles semifinal should improve his rank to about 112, final to 108 and a title to 101.
I checked the 2007 thread about doubles and it seems the doubles entry list came out after only after Halle/Queen's. So they should have more chances to improve their combined ranking.

Re: Philipp Petzschner
Good that they recovered today to win the doubles!
But in some stretches this was really not a good perfermance, they blew some volleys which are makeable for doubles specialists, and I thought they already lost it. From time to time, it looked as if they were attending a funeral. Almost no reaction or positive emotion at all.

Re: Philipp Petzschner
btw. what's the deal with Beijing?
Can he hope to get a WC to play with Kas who is currently ranked 13th?

Why would he be #13? I doubt the team race ranking has a big meaning, so Kas shouldn't have a chance to get a wc.

Re: Philipp Petzschner
Philipp got direct entry for Newport and many beatable players are in. He will play Bundesliga, so I suppose he will come back to Europe right after Newport.

Re: Philipp Petzschner
Okay, my mistake. Kas is currently ranked #33 in the doubles ranking, which still makes him Germanys best Doubles player.
He would need a top 10 doubles ranking to get direct entrance. He could then choose a doubles partner with a "recognised
international singles or doubles ranking".

Re: Philipp Petzschner
Now it's sure, it was Waske who withdrew from doubles. That means Besancon is still the only good doubles result Philipp got this year.
On Tuesday the grass season starts.

Re: Philipp Petzschner
Surbiton Challenger
1R (6)Petzschner d. Elgin 6-7(2) 6-4 6-3
2R Mannarino d. (6)Petzschner 6-3 6-2
-
1R Clement/Roger-Vasselin d. Petzschner/Stadler 6-2 7-5
They played on hard I think. It was the last doubles tournament before the Wimbledon deadline. Now it will be difficult to get in with Kas. Kas also injured on match point in Roland Garros, so that Kas/Petzschner is doubtful for Halle.
Schedule:
Halle (wildcard)
Wimbledon qualifying
Wimbledon
-
Newport (direct entry)
Amersfoort (direct entry)
