This year when the Aussie Open quali list came out, the cut-off was 279. At the end it was at 380. I think if Philipp is alternate #40 or so, then it will be better to play an ATP event in week 2 instead of waiting in Melbourne, because he also needs the doubles points.

He could also play the 2 Indian Futures during Christmas time followed by Chennai, but I don't believe he will do that.

And now beat Gulbis finally!

Yes, the reason was: flu

What a bad luck once again. Now his season might be over, because he didn't sign up for Czech F4 Future.

I expect him to play the German Championships in week 49, where the winner will get a wc for Hamburg Masters. The last time the winner got only a wc for the Hamburg qualifying, but this time it's probably for the main draw.

He's 23rd alternate for the qualifying in Melbourne. I hope he has the luck. Only ten days until the qualifying of Adelaide/Chennai/Doha starts.

That doesn`t look that easy for Philipp as Levy recently seems to come in a better shape again, meaning a winning against Zib really can be an indicator for this.

But i think if Philipp returns to his game of a good serving, solid groundstrokes and his smart S&V game, he is able to win it against Harel in a tough 3-setter.

Kas/Petschner shall reach at least the semis if things will go thei way, though i have to admit; Cibulec/Schuetller isn`t an easy first round match at all.

He lost 2-6 3-6. What a shocker. 5 breaks for Levy, Philipp was down 26 04 after 35 minutes.

edit I just saw that he even won only 76(3) 63 against Narayanaswamy in the first round.

A very disappointing loss indeed. May it is better that way, that his chances for making it the the Aussie Open Qualifies aren`t that big at all.

He better shall concentrate on the German futures and try to qualify for Heilbronn or begging for a WC there.

Don't forget he's in the doubles in Melbourne. I think he will only play Heilbronn quali if he loses in the first round in Melbourne. I guess he will more likely play Auckland/Sydney, AO and then a couple of big challengers in Europe like Wroclaw, Besancon.

First round Chennai
Cibulec/Schüttler d Kas/Petzschner 26 63 10/5

As always they won the first set. Really hard loss with the 290 points to defeat in February.

Now up to 12th alternate for the qualifying. With more than 5 days to go, that should be possible. Imo once he's in, anything can happen. (and Kiefer is out, so it should be 11th alternate already)

He's not in this weekend's qualifyings, I hope he'll play doubles though.
