Murray vs. Fed on Clay
Will we finally see it this year?
They are 1-1 on grass, and surprisingly they hadn't met on grass until last year, despite their double digit in encounters.
Obviously Fed is the favorite based on his previous results on clay, but Murray maintains his head to head advantage 11-9.

bad boy
certainly, It would be interesting to see them play on clay, especially at RG. However, yeah, Fed has an edge on clay, big time. Mandy never won a clay tournament, he hasn't been even in any clay finals if I remember correctly.

Re: Murray vs. Fed on Clay
lets see a guy who has constantly been the top clay player (except nadal) vs a guy who can barely get into the quarters of clay tournaments
tough choice

Re: Murray vs. Fed on Clay
Very very touch choice. I have to think a lot about this one, because they have never faced on clay before, and Andy leads the head to head 11-9 overall, it makes things even more difficult for me to decide on.\
Fed

Well, if Fed can lose to Gasquet on clay, then he can lose to Murray as well. However, if clay means RG, then it's a different story, Fed should have the advantage

Re: Murray vs. Fed on Clay
It would be interesting to see this match. A little surprising it hasn't happened yet, Murray has not been that bad on clay. Hopefully he'll improve this year.
Federer had a - for him - poor season on red clay last year, so I'm not entirely convinced how this would go. But this year he'll take an extended training break before the clay season (no Miami) so one can hope he'll be better prepared.

Re: Murray vs. Fed on Clay
These days, I wouldn't be surprised if Muzza can straight set the old man. Take Monte Carlo for example - highest chance of that happening for sure.

Re: Murray vs. Fed on Clay
Most people forgot that because Federer is the most complete tennis player and he is very good in all types of courts, he tends to go into final rounds of all tournaments, hence he met his top rivals (Nadal, Djokovic, Murray, etc) lopsidedly in tournaments/court types that are his rival's favorites.
Hence he met Nadal disproportionally high in clay courts, and that also explains why he never met Murray on clay: because Murray sucks on clay.

Re: Murray vs. Fed on Clay
With Murrays much improved FH and amazing defensive skills see no reason why he can't do well on clay. I'd say Fed would have advantage in 1st meeting but in consequent meetings I think Murray can pick up the 'W'.
