The better player won, easily. Nice one David, the result was never really in doubt. Ferrer is far superior to Baghdatis in almost every way.

Go David I like Marcos, but he has had lots of injuries and illnesses so he isn't the player now that he once was

Watched the whole game last night, Ferrer deserved to win, he was a little spanish beastie out there on the court. Great game to watch, Baghdatis did his best but just didn't have the finesse to finish the points off.

Baghdatis is more talented than Ferrer. Ever seen Baghdatis play in person? Blew me away the first tinme I saw him. From a shotmaking perspective, he has no weaknesses. He's got all the shots in the book. If he were even halfway dedicated to fitness, he would be a top 5 player.

The scoreline sums it up perfectly. Mugdatis aint got shit on ferrer. There are no excuses for this, no if only´s. Only tards on mtf can look at this scoreline and genuinely believe the better player lost.

I think Ferrer's talent is underrated (I disagree that he's a real overachiever, he works hard but also is a big choker) but I do feel Baghdatis is more talented. He is a top 10, hell top 5 talent for sure. No weaknesses, naturally fast, huge serve. But he doesn't seem to give a fuck about fitness and his results show it

Yes that's is truth, 5% of Ferrer is still enought for Slam Finalist of that transitional era.

Its quite funny how Federer escaped this version of Ferrer whole year, blue clay and Wtf after Ferrer played whole month doesn't count. Its just matter of time when Ferrer is going to convert him to new pigeon like Berdych, Delpo or Tsonga.
You do realise Ferrer is older than Baghdatis no?

This was true several years ago. The current Baghdatis is a shadow of his former self and far below Ferrer in shotmaking ability.

What? Ferrer is also a player from that era, Einstein. Furthermore he's old now but still getting better results than ever in slams. What does that tell you about today's era, clown?

Baggy has fallen but what else is new. Keep rolling david

One of the funniest things I have read on here in a long time.

Baghdatis is certainly at least half dedicated to fitness and has been at various points even more than that.

He is a very good player and I sometimes enjoy his matches but he is no better than others who are regularly mocked on here. It is his style which makes you and others overrate him relative to others, not his superior ability.

I won't say I'm not worried about Nishikori, he's my biggest fear for Ferru (well if you don't count Novak obviously ^^). But at the same time, people were predicting him a tough match against Baghdatis, and he straight-setted him without even trying that hard, so... We'll see.
He has amazing pick up volleys which requires good hand work. And i don't why people are taking too much of the Olympics match. Ferrer was horrible and was clearly gassed out. Even if you watch his doubles there was just nothing there anymore.

Thank you! Why don't you go and repeat that on the Ferrer/Nishikori WWW thread?

He was gassed out, and in the doubles, he was sometimes playing great, but you could see that it was mostly adrenaline and the fact that he was playing his heart out. I think he may have gone too far, he seemed a little shattered afterwards (their loss to the French pair was one of the most heartbreaking defeats I've ever seen...) But anyway, he was obviously tired at that point.

I also think he can do some really great volleying. He used that a lot in Valencia and in Bercy, mostly to very good effect.
