i have to give it to him - that's what makes him better than Dimitrov right now.

Confidence bordering arrogance, that's the recipe...

It's really quite distressing/sickening the lack of respect some posters are showing B-Nard on here.

haha you must be shitting ME? I've watched a few matches of him this year and he has massively improved many things. most of all his attitude. he doesn't get down or lose focus much at all. he is extremely consistant lately (he had many insane gets in this match) and his touch has been amazing. I mean did you see some of those drops shot he was hitting? granted it's Brands, not the best mover ever, but they were some sublime shots. Brands has a killer serve so the match was indeed close but this Tomic is looking very good, certainly extremely dangerous for Federer to face

and come on did you see Tomic's hat and bright shoes and how he smiled a lot and responded so great to the crowds efforts- how can you not like this kid

the reality is that both he and Brands played fairly well today, you are vastly overrating Federer's current level, there just is not that big of a margin between the level that they played at today. you say Brands is much lower level currently than Federer, but if Tomic makes a close match of it against him in a few days you'll look a bit silly

He is a clown. He says his preparation involved watching a 30 second clip of Brands on YouTube. That is just slipshod when you are about to play someone who has just beaten the 27th seed.

Would have served him right to lose.

Tomic kept his end of the bargain as one would expect. Now let's see if Roger is able to scrape through Davydenko to have the honor of facing ATOMIC.

Wow, the Tomic hype is massive here right now. Bandwagon player of the month easily.

This was a good win, truly, but it was against BRANDS. He'll go down to Federer without a doubt.

Soon enough Tomic will be outside australia again and lose these kinds of matches against these kinds of players.

Finally, the draw is easier for Tomic now.

Something tells me Tomic is going to be proving his haters wrong this year. The potential here is enormous.

Brands winning new fans, back into the top 100 and a danger to everyone he faces, barring the top 4, so great to see him back where he belongs, look out tour, came so close to sending it 5, good on ya, Tomic had a lucky escape today, will get crushed in the next round though, never to be seen again for the rest of the season.

I'm really impressed with Brands. His serve and forehand are so good. I expect him to notch a few good results this year, especially on indoor hard.
