33 combined slams vs 1 - does Murray have the right to be in a "big four"?
Federer, Djokovic and Nadal have a combined 33 slams between them. Okay, it is a somewhat Nadal/Fed heavy total, but nevertheless Djokovic has at least been number one and had a 3 slam season and four straight GS finals to his name. He has 5 grand slam titles, four ammassed in the past 24 months.
Is Murray really befiting of being in a "big four"?
Discuss.

Now since Nadal won many of his titles against a clownish Federer, it means Nadal's victories are also cheapened.
And finally, since Nole beat a clownish Nadal in many of his slam victories, his achievements are further cheapened.
Conclusion: everyone is a clown, playing in a neverending clown era.

Highlander's career just beginning. After winning AO, he'll have 4-6 years where he wins 2-3 slams a year. Which puts him roughly above Noserer. He also has that impeccable playstation record where he has no peer.

Re: 33 combined slams vs 1 - does Murray have the right to be in a "big four"?
Del Potro certainly didn't become part of a "big 3" with Federer and Nadal after winning 2009 US Open. It wasn't even a discussion point.
No in my book, not yet anyway. If he has a 2 slam season, i'll accept his place.

Re: 33 combined slams vs 1 - does Murray have the right to be in a "big four"?
No. Before 2011 when Djokovic had a career like the one Murray has now nobody talked about a big 3, they talked about Fedal.
It wasn't untill Novak started dominating, reached N1, won multiple slams and defeated Federer and Nadal in multiple ocassions in the same year that people started talking about the BIG 3.
Murray needs a few more slams and some weeks at N1 (and a year end) for a TOP 4 to exist. The other 3 are clearly above him.

Career wise, of course not
Currently, yes

But it's okay, because the top 10 playing more is good for the game!

This is it.
If he continues to play like he did in 2012, he will surely win more majors and be considered, if not a "great", then at least a very good player, on a par with the likes of Becker, Vilas, etc.

Becker is too far away. Vilas sounds maybe more realistic.

Re: 33 combined slams vs 1 - does Murray have the right to be in a "big four"?
Becker won 6 slams, it's a pipedream to get that far.
But then you look at who's peaking in 3-4 years and it could be almost like vulturing slams for any current top guy who stays fit.

Of course, you are probably right here. But consider the case of Lendl - who took a long time to make the major breakthrough, winning his first when he was only a little younger than Murray, no?
With both Federer and probably Nadal in decline, and no youngster stepping up, can't you see Murray having a couple of seasons where he wins two of the majors...and then a single-major season after that?

But Djokovic's still there. Del Potro will be soon and one of the new generation maybe (unlikely though).

Djokovic should win more majors than Murray overall - he's better, and he has a headstart!
But, last season in majors their H2H stands at 1-1. Both were five-setters. I would suggest based on this that Djokovic won't have it all his own way this season or the next...
