Some nice points by both players but nothing spectacular. Solid performance by Djokovic overall.

Great opening match. Quality ballstriking from both guys. An expected test for Nole, but it's a shame they had to meet so early.

pretty boring, PHM looked like he didn't care, thinking his career his close to done for, and Djokovic looked casual too. doesn't really say much of anything either way this match, hopefully more excitement in R2 for the Djoker

quality ballstriking? you did watch the match right? PHM was not hitting the ball particularly well and the intensity for the most part was pretty low. pretty much the definition of a boring match |

as boring at it comes.
some good shots by paulo but faker's retrieving abilities are too solid and thus many times paulo thought he was close to winning the point only to see a good defensive shot coming at him.
overall, it was pretty expected. faker's pushing-retrieving style is too strong on these slow high bouncing courts.

2nd gear, had to shift in the 3rd briefly at the end in order to get the final break. pretty clean.

these slowed down courts made novak what he is. it rewards this style of tennis. quit bitching about his playing style and respect the number one player in the world. its like nature adapt or die, and nole has done that. |
