An inexperienced, unranked juniour boy comes extremely close to beating to beating the No. 3 woman in the world, and this is cause for celebration? That's just embarrassing, and even more so being that he's only 16, about 3 years into puberty.

Do you actually know anything about the people you're trashing? The 16-year old, Thanasi Kokkinakis, replaced John Isner at the Hopman Cup and played Verdasco. He lost 7-6(4) 6-3, but that is a very respectable score.

I very much doubt you would beat this kid.

When did I ever say I'd beat an ATP player? I wouldn't even get a point against that kid and I'd probably sustain injury trying to return his monster serve.

What I said is I'd get a game off many WTA players by just standing there and watching them double fault, an allusion to the clown serving you see on WTA.

Think WTA is trash but doubt a male ranked between 900-1000 would beat Serena.

Except Serena

Many of you seem to forget Serena ACED Novak TWICE in the Hopman cup, and he wasn't happy when she did. She can win some points on serve alone. Plus junior boys aren't mentally prepared to predict where Serena is going to place her serve.

I see a lot of potential Kokkinakis maybe more than I saw in Tomic. Shame he lost to Johnson in AO qualifying, apparently it was a crazy match he lost it 4-6 7-6 (5) 15-17.

The last time I saw a woman lose a game by serving 4 double faults was in the early 1980s. I believe Miroslav Mecir once served 8 in a row to lose a match from 5-4 up.

You started puberty at 13?

Haha, for instance Marcos Baghdatis would double bagel any WTA player. Serena might get a couple games on grass, but remember she was humiliated by someone outside the top 300

That was when she was 16 haha I'm pretty sure the current Serena is better than that match she had when she was a little girl. That serve alone is powerful enough to ace some of the guys. She did ace Novak twice (the best returner in ATP).

She did NOT comfortably beat Saville. She didn't beat him at all. She clearly said in the article that the set took too long to finish. She beat Kokinakkis. Which doesn't surprise me, because despite Kokinakkis' big game, he's still extremely raw with at this point a terrible return of serve, and poor defensive shots (his anticipation isn't great at this stage and while I don't think he's slow he's 6'3 and probably still growing).

So even if he could overpower her, his raw game likely means unforced errors which the far more experienced Sharapova could have exploited. Plus there's the simple fact that players simply don't play practice matches with anything like the intensity of a competitive match. They take a lot more risks with their shot making and try things they wouldn't in a real match. Just like people say you shouldn't take exhibitions seriously, that would go doubly so for practice matches.

I'm somewhat surprised by the mental midget misogynists here though. Some of the posters on this thread must have been rejected too many times asking girls out. You may not like women's tennis, but the vitriol directed their way goes way above and beyond simple dislike into something more disconcerning. I would suggest seeking out a therapist.

Jesus, what a pathetic thread. Come to think of it you are probably someone who hates the WTA and is trying to make it look bad. Way to go
