Default Is the dominance of tennis moving on to Djokovic and Murray?

From 2004 to 2010 we had 28 slams. Roger won 15, nadal 9. So combined Federer and Nadal won 24 out of 28 slams (85,7%).

2011 was obviously dominated by Djokovic and 2012 was the first time since 2003 that we had 4 different major winners.

My question follows this article: http://www.espn.co.uk/tennis/sport/story/187292.html

Will we see from 2013 forward a domination of the slams by Djokovic and murray with Roger and Nadal getting behind and only winning one every couple years?

"In recent years the grand slams have been a four-horse race between Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray, but this year I think that it is straight shootout between Murray and Djokovic."

Do you agree with the article?

The AO, yes. But Murray and Djokovic are not getting near the RG trophy, and at Wimbledon I'd favour Roger and Rafa ahead of them as well. USO will probably be between Murray/Djokovic again.

Djokovic is the lesser of the top 4 on grass.
Murray is the lesser of the top 4 on clay.
So no, they won't dominate like Fedal did, at least not this year. 2015 maybe.

Default Re: Is the dominance of tennis moving on to Djokovic and Murray?

Federer and Nadal were by far the best on ALL surfaces.

Murray and Djokovic are hardcourt specialists, rather than all court players. That's why they will never dominate like Rafa and Roger, and they definitely don't have the same charisma and superstar appeal as those two.

A transitional 'top' rivalry, at best.

While Rafa is superior on Clay, and Roger is still the one to beat on Grass,i think they'll be the ones battling for number one next year,Roger isn't getting any younger, while Rafa with his knees getting old, will see more finals between Djojo/Muzz.

I wouldn't count Murray out on grass.. Federer might still be the best right now, but it has always been Murray's fave surface, not necessarily his best, but his favourite. If Murray wins Wimbledon this year, he could certainly win it again...

As far as dominance between the two, no, I just don't see it. Tomic and Dimitrov will eventually breakthrough meaning the slams won't be dominated.

Murray always said Clay was his favourite surface

Alright your Murray trolling is getting to a highly annoying level, and espescially annoying considering I barely make negative comments to Nadal. So, lets make a little bet. If Murray wins just ONE clay tournament in his career, you have to declare love to him in your sig and keep it there permanently... If he doesn't win one, I will do whatever you request within reason.

Who's trolling?

Quote:
Q. Although you've said consistently that you think the French is the Grand Slam where you've got the least chance of winning, are you sort of actually quietly enjoying this championship and the ups and downs of how you've got this far and relishing the prospect of the second week here?

ANDY MURRAY: Yeah, I mean, I enjoy it as a tournament. I always loved to play on clay when I was younger. I've said it many times it's my favorite surface to play on, even though my results haven't been as good.
You know, I feel like I can play well on clay, play very well on clay. It just takes me a bit more time to get used to the surface again. You know, I love the tournament. It's probably the hardest physically to win, you know, because obviously a lot of long rallies, long points, and long matches.
Yeah, I enjoy coming here, and it's very different to me than at the other Slams where, you know, I'm a lot more sure of myself there just because I know how to move well and how to play properly on those courts.
