Haven´t been following the BDO WC but if so, I´m glad. It´s sad how BDO has fallen apart the last 5-6 years. I do agree that Waites should join the PDC.

Really bad prediction. O'Shea was awful tonight. Well deserved victory by Waites

O'shea was nervous surprisingly. Waites wasn't that great but it was enough. Well deserved win for him. Now he can finally focus on PDC

O'shea is like 0-8 in major finals or something, no surprise his dodgy performance

Waites was clinical to go 5-0 then O'shea bad form pulled Wiates down as well, but he was never in danger of losing

i like Wesley Harms, he looks like he could be one for the future

I will be shocked if Waites doesn't switch. He's played well in the Grand Slam (with the PDC gents) before and has all the tools to be a top player on that circuit. Does he want to switch out of his comfort zone though? That's the big question, and we'll find out soon.

The Premier League is a glorified exhibition. Many players don't take it seriously, though with the quick format players have recorded some exceptional averages.

The BDO is now a complete joke. Waites is a solid player, but he's not special and one cannot really say if that's because he's been stuck with the BDO. Players tend to progress when they make the jump.

My favourite player is John Part. Too bad he's considerably past it, though he lost one of the greatest matches of all time to James Wade last year int he QF. I absolutely cannot stand Wade, a complete and utter nutcase and one of the sorest losers on the planet, he'd rival Verdasco.

Despite Hankey being past it and recently suffering a slight stroke on stage at the Grand Slam, he could still deliver the odd great tournament with his heavy scoring and consistent finishing.

There's so much hype around Van Gerwen right now, but I still believe the top youngster is Lewis. Van Gerwen's finishing is far too temperamental and Lewis should've put him away.

Well, Lewis already is a two time world champion, so it's usual he isn't seen as 'the next big thing', because he's already there.

Van Gerwen has been sensational recently, let's see if he can keep it up. That Lewis-Van Gerwen match was of a ridiculously high quality btw. For people who don't follow darts and want to see a match, take a look at that one. It's on youtube.

Not true and when I, and everyone else speaks of 'next big thing', we're talking of a replacement, or something close, to Phil Taylor. And Lewis is far from consistent enough to be a replacement, nor do I believe anyone will be from the current era. Lewis hasn't won a single Major outside of the World Championships and it's much easier to do now that Taylor is far and away from his best, day in and day out. Lewis has spoke of wanting to win at least 10 World Championships and dominate, and so far he's not delivered and I believe it's due to his intensity, he's a player who can turn it on and off when it really matters and he doesn't carry the same intensity throughout the year as he does at the World Championships.

Lewis was far from his best in the first 6 or 7 sets, he barely had 3 180's until the penultimate set but he caught fire and his finishing let him down. Shame that Van Gerwen never had enough left in the tank in the latter stages of the final and put Mr. Smug in his place. Taylor is becoming more narcissistic as the years pass.

As smug as Taylor is, can we really expect anyone to reach his level in the coming years? To me he seems to be a generational talent, and if anyone is going to come close to his level, it will take many years. The best we can hope for I´d say is the young guns pushing eachother to a higher level.

Part was once upon a time an amazing player. Nice choice, and I miss seeing him on the biggest stage.

Agree about James Wade being an all-round dick. Phil Taylor isn't much better with some of the comments and actions he comes up with. That incident with Barney at the Ally Pally springs to mind.

Adrian Lewis has the best of both worlds. Heavy scorer and clinical finisher.

Most of the other decent players these days are mainly just heavy scorers, Van Gerwen, Anderson etc.

No. But in the darting world, there has been never ending conversation from the mid-2000's of "who's going to replace Taylor, who's going to dominate" basically because since a couple of years after the split (Priestley was initially tipped to dominate) Taylor has dominated the sport for so long. The quality is continuously improving because of the PDC organisation. Now we have around 30 men who are earning a very good living throwing darts and even doing so in some cases part-time, it's not exactly fair to compare those of the past to the current generation. It's developing at a fast rate and they're wanting to plunge even more money into the World Championship next year, when I really believe it should be invested into floor events.

Even the preliminary matches this year and last were of excellent quality. Haavisto vs. Komula was of an excellent quality.

It's a shame that today we don't have the likes of Priestley, Baxter, Hankey, Manley and Part throwing as well as they did even just a couple of years ago.

Did you see Wade this year, either against Hudson or Beaton (silly Beaton bust on 126 or something when he would've had three darts at a double to take it into 3-3 ), standing behind the dancer girls and then covering his penis (99% sure he was joking about having a boner)? Ridiculous.

Part had it all, his biggest problem was being absolutely fantastic one leg, with massive scoring and perfect finishing, to being utterly dire in the following leg. The 2003 final to me, is still the most thrilling match of all time, because everyone still saw Taylor as unbeatable and especially having been whitewashed by Taylor in the 2001 final, with probably the most perfect performance I've ever seen from an individual over 7 sets. Not to mention that he's an absolute gent. Terrific guy is Party.

Anderon's finishing has been abysmal. I still love the guy for his attitude. I don't think he could care less about darts, he just loves the money he's raking in these days.
