Default Auckland QF: [1] Ferrer def. Lacko 6-2 6-1

I have to say this Ferrer is really good. Best player now in terms of fullfuing his potential.

Lacko tried, but there's not much he could do right now. Maybe except one game in 2nd set, 1-2 down - when he lost a service game from 40:0 because of double fault and 4 consecutive unforced errors.

But props to Ferrer, he is a machine.

Much better than yesterday

Getting broken from 40-0 was mugtacular from Lacko. Taken straight out of the clown handbook.

Completely unplayable matchup. Lacko started competitive, but then he slowly realized there is zero chance. He has still that slight injury, so maybe it´s better to save some energy for AO, when it really matters. Ferrer is crazy, what a robot. Even his serve is very good. Lacko was hitting some 205 kmh serves, but they were routine for Ferrer who was returning them with a great length. As the match went on, Lacko got disinterested and started to play crap, but it didn´t matter, loss was just unevitable.

As I said earlier, Lacko is playing really well when he´s confident and is feeling the chance in a match. Obviously not the case here against a superior opponent. He just can´t play against these top players, it´s sad. Not even giving them a small challenge. Hoping for favorable AO draw, he has to avoid TOP 20 in first 2 rounds and then he could make some damage.

Very much agree, it may sound bad, but maybe it's good he lost so quickly, at least he saved his ankle and may travel to Australia sooner, QF is nice because Ferrer was unbeatable. But Lacko should concentrate on beating players he should beat, by the way this year he is doing it well so far /not saying he should've not trying to beat top players, of course he should, but sometimes more important are matches with lower ranked opponents. For example, I consider his wins over Lorenzi and Belluci as very good, same with Garcia Lopez and Troicki in Doha.

I really do hope that ankle won't bother him or he won't hurt himself more badly, his schedule after Australian Open is very tight, he hasn't got really a time for recover. He signed in Heilbronn CH as well, but if he reaches R2 in Australia, he should consider pulling off from there, as there are tough Davis Cup matches after that (not speaking about Zagreb, Rotterdam and Memphis).

So at the end of a day, it's good Ferrer won, he's way better player and I hope he can win here and reach SF at AO.

Hahaha! I don't know what Ferru's doing at the moment, and the time zone is awful for me to watch (I'll save the sleepless nights for the AO ) so I didn't see him play... But it looks like he's either really bad or very impressive. One day, everyone is in awe, and the next, everyone predicts a slump.

Well, next round, Monfils, and Ferrer's never beaten him. Sadly for Gael, he's not in very good shape, so it might be the right time for Ferru to score his first point against Monfils...

Good result but tbh, beating Lacko really isn't an indication for anything really. We'll see Ferrer's level against Monfils
