Tomic is a much better player. Dimitrov is just a clown.

That is one of the reasons why Grigor hasn't achieved anything yet, his mind is too locked in trying to imitate Federer instead of finding a game that comes naturally to him.
A kid who doesn't know which hand is which doesn't have any balance and someone needs to teach him how to play, how to position himself, how to swing at the ball.

My generation was taught the Lendl style - FH - left leg toward the net, body parallel to the side, etc.

I was questioning myself later - why Agassi has a different position then? Then Courier confirmed my doubts that my coaches were noobs and i started playing like this myself.

Now Roger illustrated how it's perfectly done, for all shots that exist in a book of tennis (i would question only his BH volley, but this is too much into details to start a conversation here), so everyone starts trying to play this way and then his body and mind change these settings in the way it's more comfortable for the player.

Of course, more comfortable doesn't mean better. My kid feels most comfortable kicking the ball with his toes and i try to explain him that it might feel weird now, but kicking it with the inside and upper part of the foot is the better way for him..

That's why a magicien like Santoro couldn't ever do more than he did, despite all the tons of talent in his hands - coz a mug coach, with Connor's BH in mind figured that if the kid has it from both sides - he can't win less than 10 Slams...

Grigor has mastered the ultimate correct tennis style and he'll be up there winning Slams one day hopefully.

Tomic's potential is higher, but I see both of them advancing into the top 20 this season.

How do you figure that? Tomic hypes himself to no end with nothing to justify it, which is far more clownish than Dimitrov who just seems to get on with it. Don't try and tell me his one significant career win (over Monoling at Wimbledon) and an exho win over Djokovic justifies all the hype.

Tomic's serve is very average for his height. Dimitrov has a better serve.

Dimitrov also has a way better FH.

So overall what Tomic has more is his BH and the fact that being a hot head makes him less vulnerable mentally, playing favorites.

But this is smth that will go against him in his career.

At the moment:

Serve: Dimitrov
Return: Dimitrov
Forehand: Dimitrov
Backhand topspin: Tomic
Backhand slice: Tomic
Anticipation: Tomic
Mentality: Tomic
Movement: Dimitrov

Dimitrov seems to win a lot of important categories, but he doesn't win serve by too much. Whereas Tomic wins most of his categories pretty convincingly. Pretty close, but Tomic's unusual game and mentality has meant he has had a better career at a younger age.

I think the reputation is that he doesn't even always wait to start losing to give up!

It is interesting that given that no younger players are capable of ever winning a slam or even making the top four that either RF et will have to play for a long time yet or they will have to cancel slams and start the rankings from #11

I wouldn't put Dimitrov ahead in return and movement areas, but i wouldn't also put Tomic ahead in the slice department, despite it's smth he's notorious for.
