well he did play better, but i can't really be encouraged by that. all the bad things from last season are still there. i feel like it's reasonable to expect him to beat a player like Paire, i didn't look at his UE but i'm sure he went over 40 (Paire). and when he needed his first serve disappeared completetly. on the bright side the volleying is pretty good, but pretty much futile when it's not incorporated with other elements. the Service return is horrendous, missing too many of them. all in all, a shaky player, shook up by himself mostly. and now another title to this ghastly Gasquet, pppf

So many regrets today, and also such a sense of hopelessness at times when Benoit was just spraying winners at ease. That lost lead in the 1st and the weak volleys at 5/5 30-30 on the 2nd.

Anyway, it's not that big of a deal for his ranking especially because he'd probably lose to Llodra anyway but it's still disappointing to lose in his home country against a compatriot.
