What a match! His level of play and mental focus have improved so much recently and when he plays like that, there is no-one better to watch. He was godlike in that period of play between holding serve at the end of the 2nd set and breaking in the 3rd. His forehand has developed into a huge weapon now and he hits it with so much variety. Good to see him playing so aggressively as that is how he will win the big matches.
Up to 33 in the live rankings and several players above him have a fair amount of points to defend in the weeks ahead (Anderson, Melzer). He has a good chance of being seeded for IW.
I could only follow the livescores, but this was definitely a match he would have lost in the last year. Must have been a great tie-break.
Fish is ahead of Grigor, too, and I do not expect him to play in the next weeks.
Del Potro will be a huge test, he might actually be the best indoors player of the world at the moment, having beaten Federer twice. Let's see what Grigor can do here
