Hi All!! So where to start?? I had an amazing weekend yesterday and today. The match yesterday was absolutely amazing to be a part of. By the time the 3rd set tiebreak started I was an absolute wreck! I was so anxious! everyone around me kept saying "its gonna be ok, hes gonna pull it out" trying to calm me down lol. really fun part of the day for me was that after Kei pulled out they played a fun exhibition set for us spectators to get to see something else. Mikael came out with todd woodbridge against Melo/Robredo. I got such a kick out of watching Mikael play and he kept smiling at waving at me whenever i cheered for him. it was so cool!!!
then today he had arranged TWO sets of tickets for me (and my mum) - one in the players box with him for grigors match and another in the 2nd row of the normal seats for the doubles final. SO LOVELY of him to organise both!
After the doubles final we headed over to the box. when Mikael got there he came over and shook our hands and we said thank you again. tried not to bother him or cheer much at all during the match (which was extremely hard) but you're not supposed to do those things in the box so we thought we better not. we did have to ask someone else in the box to SHUT THE HELL UP though because he was sitting in GRIGOR'S box and cheering for MURRAY. every time grigor made a mistake he shouted "YES!!!" and was calling out inappropriate things. we asked him to stop and said this is grigor's box - turned out he was the tournament doctor and that made him think he had a right to do whatever he wanted. he did behave a bit better after that though.
after the match mikael was really disappointed. he said he thought Grigor would have won the first set and it was such a shame he couldnt pull it off. then his wife, Sofia (the lady who I spoke to after the Melzer match) and their two daughters (cutest little girls ever!) came down to the box to comfort him. Grigor gave them a lovely smile and wink. After the presentation Mikael got out of there pretty quick - i think he wanted to go comfort Grigor. Sofia hung back and spoke to me for a few minutes and thanked me for my support. (seriously, i was the one wanting to thank her and she comes and thanks me - swedes are so nice!!!). she said they were off to sydney probably tonight and her and the girls are going back to sweden next sunday before the AO. she said they were happy with the sydney draw (so no sign of considering withdrawing). then she said that she had already left yesterday when mikael decided to play the doubles and her and the girls were really disappointed they didnt get to see him play. i said i took lots of photos and she asked if i could email them to her.
ok thats all i can think of for now but will post again if i think of something else!! will do some photos later too
