I didn't say that they invented it but probably his knee was not that good either.
That said, yes, I would prefer them to be more transparent even though his knee situation is probably hard to explain.

Re: Nadal OUT of the Australian Open
Better for his knees to start playing on the Golden Swing, like someone said before, he might even skip IW/Miami.

number 5 most probably, number 6 if Berdych reaches AO final, number 7 if Del Po wins AO in a final against Berdych.

It's intended to minimise speculation. It's not going to work particularly well, though.
The BBC correspondent says the following:
Quote:
His camp say he is suffering from a stomach bug, which is the official reason for pulling out. However, the knee has been a worry. This comeback was eagerly anticipated but the problems have not cleared completely.
The hard courts in Australia in the heat hold a particularly damaging danger to lower joints and it seems this virus has come at the wrong time.
Acapulco will now be the surprise scene for his return. With every setback though, one starts to wonder if that is a bit ambitious.

better for his career record in general to avoid tournaments where he has the least chance in, and only play in those where he is a lock-on to win, NID that he's never 'injured' in the clay season, its only during the hard tournaments

Prep. time for what? Surely they didn't thought Nadull had a chance of winning AO after being out for half a year! Couldn't his ego accept a 2nd round exit?

What's so hard to explain, everyone who has a brain suspects that the knees are the real issue!

Re: Nadal OUT of the Australian Open
This works well for me in 3 different ways:
1.Federer's chances increase
2.Ferrer is #4
3.Wawrinka is top 16
But still, this is tragic. Just tragic.

Yea, he could've easily said his knees are still not 100%, and best of 5 slow HC could be risking another injury and no one would've said anything I guess.

Agree 100%! I understand he's supposed to be some kind of maniac for winning... but come on! You cannot be this afraid to lose. He has to play at some point. This is really bizarre!

from what I understand, he had two different injuries in his knee, and they didn't discover both problems at once.
Now I don't know what's the situation but anyway knees' problems seem to be quite hard to diagnose.
That said, he could have said something else than "My knee is coming along okay" which he just said.
