Those contests last year still had some interests.
You are not forced to look at them/participate/vote. I think it's a fun way for the organizers to connect with the participants and for the ones who want; it's a great way to make 'friends' and get to know some posters more.

I think these 2 contests aren't pointless at all.

Mr MTF probably will take up 7 days like last year so my idea would be. Nomination starts asap.
Voting begins 24 December till 30 December.

Ms MTF probably will have less contestants so 5 or 6 days will be enough.
Voting begins 2 January till 7 January.

Yes I know I probably will, but most people have a life.

The voting only takes 1 or 2 minute so you don't have to be glued on your computer at all. Do you have other suggestions for dates GO? I mean it was only a suggestion because Mae said that the mods wants to have it finished before new season. These contests happened every year so why not this year again. Tradition must be tradition.

Javi, you know how seriously I take these contests. Yes 1 or 2 minutes for voting, but HOURS reading profiles (and drooling over Miss pics! ) and DAYS campaigning.

That's not a real rule, though. Contests are in the off-season to give us something to do on MTF (besides making troll threads in GM), not because there's any actual harm in having them while tennis matches are going on. If anything, it's better when tennis is being played because more people are on the site, so there will be more participation in the contest.

Your timelines are fine and if it runs over a bit, no harm done. Still a week between your projected end date and the first day of AO.

I also enjoy getting to know people better through the contests.

The AO isn't the beginning of the tennis season! The first Tournaments start the 31st of this month. So you have 10 days to do two contests. But as I said I could be mistaken about what the Mods thought of the contests running over time. For some reason it just seems to stick in my head that they weren't happy. The Mods are the powers that be here not me so ask them.

mods said during the popcon final they dont even lurk to NT so i doubt it's much of their business at all (not to mention any events on verticalscope sites lead to a bigger traffic and mean extra profits to the MTF owners)

seems no one just wants to run these contests so maybe having a year of break wouldn't be stupid
in 2008 they weren't held for example, and in 2009 we had big amount of contestants in exchange

Generally it's better to have these things done before the focus switches back to live tennis, but if you want to run it into Jan, I for one don't much care. But after the season starts the threads will be moved into the Polls and Quizzes subforum, we like to keep NT clear off this stuff except for the off-season. If everyone can live with that, have fun.
