Default Shooting leaves 27 dead in Connecticut, USA

I figured if there are tens of "boost my ego by asking me jackshit" threads it wouldn't hurt if I opened one about one of the worst shootings in history.

It's about fucking time the US prohibits its citizens from bearing fire weapons. Nevermind what an 18th century bloke thought useful in the midst of imminent conflicts with rival powers.

it has become so commonplace now. And the Americans will continue to say that guns don't kill people, people kill people.

But they never ask why people kill people so much in the US. Maybe the answer that guns are so readily available for impulse massacres is not what they want to hear.

Absolutely shocking, any murder is horrible, but killing elementary school kids is almost impossible to believe someone could do.

The least they could do is ban all those automatic/semi-automatic rifles etc, having handguns is bad enough, but those who need to buy assault rifles are either criminals or in dire need of psychiatric help.

Absolutely terrible, terrible news

My heart goes out to all the family of the dead, and of course every single person who works/attends the school. I would be so scared if I was one of the childs to come back to the school. How is the parent supposed to tell them "Your friends were murdered in this building but you have to still come back here"? I remember doing lockdown drills in elementary school but we never dreamed an attack could actually happen.

It was so unexpected to happen in a small, peaceful town. The most unknown part is whether the murderer was going through emotional distress or was just a flat-out crazy who had a sudden urge.

This raises a question: Should people have to go through extensive mental examination before purchasing a gun. I say definitely yes.

Agreed. Even sleeping dart guns are more effective

Terrible. Everytime an incident like this happens, the "responsible" gun owners come out of the woodwork to say the following "copyrighted" sentences which drive me

- "Now is not the time to politicize such an act of violence"
-"Guns don't kill people, people kill people"

Btw, the following post lays down some interesting facts about guns and mass shooting in the US

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/...united-states/

No one should even be allowed to purchase a gun, let alone be given a mental test for it.

the usa has a culture of fear. that is ancestral.

the open gun policy doesn't help at all either but it's precisely because of the american fear culture that guns aren't more restricted.

Very sad situation. Gun control issues are obviously going to be raised for the next few weeks. But truly, there is really no true way to make a perfect gun control law. Even if the government outlawed civilians from having or using guns, no matter what, just like drugs, anyone who really wants a weapon can go get one and still commit such atrocities then the pendulum will only swing to the other team saying that we need guns to protect ourselves, etc. Never ending cycle really, which is obviously why such a heated issue among differing politicians, and one of the few issues that doesn't have a middle ground for either party.

I'm from Colorado. I was there watching the news on Columbine.... I was 8 years old and I see kids running and screaming out of a building. Shit is scary. This is ten times worse....

The problem is...Parents really need to pay attention to their kids and be involved. All these shut in kids need to be checked out, by a doctor or psychologist, or just whipped into shape.

Gah I can't describe how angry I am about this BS!

* Slams Do Not Exist!

Lenders: One thing people need to understand about this so-called weak era is that it was 'weak' for Federer on HC and grass and for Nadal on clay (Federer on clay too Nadal apart) because they were so much better than anyone else, for any outsider the era couldn't possibly be any harder, during 5+ years you had to either beat the best grass/HC player ever or the best clay player ever in every single Slam just to get 1 Slam title.

Sometimes there are no words capable of explain what I feel when I read the note.

Can't stop thinking of christmas. My heart with the families.

No words, sorry.
