Not quite. Was rather annoyed by time I reached my stop, especially as the kid sat behind me wouldn't stop messing about and running up and down the carriage, plus her mother had a horrible brummy accent!

I used to be annoyed by this until I have a son who has AD/HD.

Yeah. Amazing how life teaches us patience and toleration. Well "teach" is a loose term. "Beats us over the head" might be more appropriate.

Oh, Lee, have I told you about the "Horse Boy" movie? It's a documentary about parents who have a severely autistic boy. There's also a book. The book of course has a lot more detail about the parents search to find something or anything that might help their boy and how he himself, in part, led them in the direction they finally chose. So complicated. Sometimes while reading the book, I found myself judging, and I had to stop and give myself a mental slap. I question my coping skills under those circumstances. Anyway, sometimes people would be angry with them and their boy without understanding the situation.

Well I guess I shouldn't be so annoyed by it, considering I have ADHD myself, and was probably just as bad, if not worse when I was a kid. So many stories of my tantrums I could share on here lmao.

I don't know how the movie can show exactly what the parents and the boy went thru.

And that's the reason when there are somebody annoyed me, I would rather look for a reason why people behaved that way. I still get annoyed. I am no saint but I am better at keeping my mouth shut and think about it.

When my son was a little kid, we hardly went out for dinner ourselves. But being Chinese with big extended families, there were many occasions that we had to go dinner with my mom and my siblings families in restaurants. It's really hard.

My oldest godchild was a tantrum thrower. She didn't have ad/hd, but she got emotionally overloaded and couldn't cope. Now I was her godmother and thought everything she did was adorable -- even the tantrums, but it was not quite so easy for her mother. One time she was in the store with both her and her younger daughter who was a toddler at the time, and Julia had a tantrum. Honestly, her mother would have given her anything she wanted to shut her up, but what she wanted was not available. Poor woman was just happy to get out of the store and into the car where the child could tantrum in private, and thankful the store was out of her neighborhood.

Then sometime later she met a woman who had seen her in the store that day and mentioned the incident.

Oh, I understand! That's why when I saw a child having a tantrum in public places, I would turn away so the parents would not be too embarrassed.

My niece, when she's a baby, had a phobia toward clowns. We were usually very careful to avoid/stay away from stores had toys like that. One day, I had her with me passing the shops in a nearby shopping mall. we were still living in Hong Kong at that time and shops were everywhere once you stepped off your apartment building. And the little mall had low ceiling. We turned a corner and right in front, a clothing store which had a mardi gras theme and there was a clown with a face that looked like those masks in mardi gras. i assure you her scream carried throughout the whole mall. I half walked half ran out of the mall
