It's not sink or swim. The quote was "The schedule of 2013 won’t change for Nadal who will play the same number of tournaments on hard court of the past years".
I merely think he should play less tournaments on hard than the past years. I'm not saying to not play on hard completely.

Well, he mostly played hardcourt masters + Dubai I think, not to mention that he usually had early exits as well, not sure what he could drastically reduce there.

He played Tokyo in 2010 and 2011. Played Bangkok in 2010. He can also skip at least a masters 1000 on hard.

I don't think skipping Tokyo is going change anything for him. Skipping one masters, ok, but most likely he would've had one early loss in a year anyway.

Re: Uncle Toni: "it's ATP's fault if Rafa never won WTF"
The real reason why Nadull never won a WTF is because it involves playing the top 8 players in the world.
Usually when he wins something, any top player goes out in the round before

One more from uncle Toni.
IMO Nadal needs to play less tournaments on hard, but this interview showed that it's not what will happen. Poor Nadal...

Same amount of HC tournaments as past years. Interesting. So he signed up for Acapulco to increase his overall schedule? That's surprising, but we'll see how it turns out.

You seem a little obsessed by Federer... the game is more than just Nadal or Federer or a couple of top players, you really should try and be a little more objective.

Add the questions asked by the interviewers in the OP or risk having Don Toni's answers misinterpreted.

I wonder if he managed to keep a straight face while saying that.
Tennis "doping control" is so weak it's almost invisible. It's completely and utterly useless, and has no chance of catching anyone but accidentals (ie like Gasquet or Kendrick).

This. Also the malefic ITF ruined Borg's chances at the USO by moving it from har-tru clay to hard courts where Connors and McEnroe excelled.

Kuerten won TMC beating Sampras and Agassi... unless Kuerten is now a HC specialist or more versatile than Rafa....?

I think posts like this should be a banable offence.
I'm sure I'm at least 2% stupider for having read it.
