Re: Poll: Singles commitments by another person
No. It makes it complicated for the manager if they don't see it (I know from experience )

Re: Poll: Singles commitments by another person
Yes. Because sometimes one player can't commit and the partner can help!

Yes
Though I think if someone is committing for another player it should be made clear so that the manager can't miss it Like:
"In for singles and doubles with Bibberz! Bibberz is also in for singles!"

Re: Poll: Singles commitments by another person
Yes but I think the commitment should only be official if said player confirms the commitment.
Sometimes a player is not around at the deadline so he gets his partner to choose the event, and commit for him so he'll be committed before the deadline and not be a LE. He should have to confirm the commitment sometime before the final deadline to make it official. This will avoid people being committed to events and not realizing and possibly committing themselves to another event

Re: Poll: Singles commitments by another person
Yes. If this happens there is usually a very good reason for it.

I said no because I think everyone should only commit themselves to Singles TTs. Someone could commit me to a TT and I might not even know about it!

Re: Poll: Singles commitments by another person
No, because it will be very difficult in controversial cases.

Re: Poll: Singles commitments by another person
Are people just getting committed to tournaments by people besides their regular doubles partner? Do people not talk to their regular doubles partner? I'm just confused at how often this is happening because I guess I haven't noticed controversy.
I mean, I usually talk to my doubles partner before any commitment is made If it's decided we are doing a tournament, we pick one, and then the commitment is made. I guess I'm confused why someone wouldn't know that they were being committed somewhere... it's just communication with your own doubles partner, and simply telling them you don't want them committing for you. For some people this works fine and without controversy.

This is why I proposed the person would have to confirm the commitment sometime for it to be valid

Re: Poll: Singles commitments by another person
No. If we can't have others send picks for us, we should have others commit is for tournaments. If you can't commit in a 10 days period then you shouldn't play there, simple as that.

it's not about not being able to do so in the 10 day window but often people want/need to wait until the 1st deadline aproaches to see which event to pick as they might get in 1 event, and not get into another. This is no good if a poster can't get here then. Hence his partner should be able to commit for him close to the deadline.
Partner sending picks is totally different, he's effetively playing the game for you which is dumb. But commiting someone to an event is in no way playing the game for you, especially if you intend on confirming the commitment at a later date.

Re: Poll: Singles commitments by another person
Yes. My partner Acionescu is ranked 92th and I must wait until the last time to sign her up to the tournaments entrylists because she cant be online on sunday. Also this way I can decide our calendar better. So please dont screw this up,
is like taking rights from TT players and we need more power.

Re: Poll: Singles commitments by another person
Yes. Because sometimes, as I'm not that high ranked, the partner is much more available than me at the deadline. I cannot commit in advance as I have to wait to see where i have the best chance to enter MD
