imo the longest game ever that I can remember is towards the end of last year. Mathieu and Bautista-Agut, It lasted about 30 minutes, something like 16+ deuces iirc

Well, to be fair I asked 2 questions ... and you answered both (from what you can remember) ... although I'm suspecting that this is one of those stats that just isn't recorded anywhere (probably because few people care outside of stats geeks ... yah thats me :-) ).
Anyways, there could be a relevant issue here too ... right now balls are changed after set number of games ... maybe there should be a rule that IF a set# of points are played BEFORE the game change, new balls are brought in. Looked like both players were really examining the balls to see which ones were least flat (older balls favour the receiver in general). Then again, if you really want to take it to the extreme, add a 3rd criteria after a certain # of hits. Of course, Monfils / Simon would need new balls after ever 2 or 3 rallies :-)
