GS Semifinalists never to reach top 10
As the thread title suggests, I wanted to make a list of all players who have reached a GS SF(or better) and have never reached the top 10.

Re: GS Semifinalists never to reach top 10
Interesting list.
There were quite a few of them in the 90's.
Also telling to see how many people slipped through to the AO semis in the late 70's and early 80's, before the top players properly took to the major.

Nicolas Lapentti was a top 10 player. He was number 6 in the world in singles.

Thanks. Corrected.
Must have seen his doubles rank by mistake.
Hopefully I have not made the same mistake for anyone else.

Re: GS Semifinalists never to reach top 10
I believe you forgot Slobodan Zivojinovic, who reached SF in AO 1985 (after beating McEnroe, no less, in QF). Best ranking 19.

I see! Forgot about the W 1986. A little strange, I watched that tournament, but not AO 1985. Funny how memory works sometimes.

My first thought was about Ginepri and he is 1st in your list.
Great work.

Ginepri being the last also means we are in the longest drought by far. Seven full calendar years, 28 slams and counting. The only other time we've went two full calendar years without any is 1994-5, eight slams.

I think it`s great - no relatively random players at last stages. Though it can always be some rosol-like to play Federer level for ten days. Really hard to make correct conclusions from such statistics.

Re: GS Semifinalists never to reach top 10
Cilic should have been on this list. That mug fluked a top 10 ranking by winning some mug tournament in India.
