Fucken epic moment. That day must have been Goderer. I swear it was the best clay match he's ever played and one of the best matched he ever played. Simply monstrous.

1. del Potro - almost always keeps his cool, respect every one (maybe not Murray )
2. Djokovic - Only bad side of his is ovecelebrating some wins. But even that is not always (look at his winn in AO 2011 final) otherwise a definition of class.
3. Ferrer - classy guy alltogether
4. Gasquet - meh
5. Nadal - a 'little Federer' in this department (see Federer)
6. Tipsarevic - Yes, retiremens aren't respectfull, but he's the most honest guy on the tour, opened for interviews and respects his opponents, has his feet on the ground.
7. Tsonga - Otherwise a nice guy, but his dances after beating the the world #147 are stupid (Novak does his roaring only after big matches)
8. Murray - His whole persona yells 'not classy'
9. Fedrer - Can be the God of class, but that's all fake, his true personality shows up when he loses and becomes this totally classless asshole. If he wasn't so successful he would be a real douchebag all the time.
10. Berdych - totally classless. I mean I like his game and he looks nice, sometimes he can be funny, but he has no class.

How about this? 2 separate lists...

In victory
1 Ferrer- Shrugs off many of his biggest wins, gives credit to everyone around him, kind to defeated opponents
2 Federer- Nice to defeated player, epitome of classy winning at the pinnacle of a sport.
3 del Potro- Quiet on all fronts, which I suppose is a credit on this list
4 Gasquet- Pretty standard winner, can think of no incidents at all

5 Murray- Quietly goes about business, very grateful and gracious but some things he celebrates are questionable
6 Tsonga- Emotional, but not in your face about it. Seems a nice guy
7 Djokovic- Pretty average, applauds opponents good shots but can also overreact to things
8 Tipsarevic- Standard stuff, questions calls a bit much
9 Nadal- Standard stuff, bad for celebrating UEs

10 Berdych- cockiness somehow manages to increase even further. Confidence is good, but Berdych's is just offputting at that level

In loss
1 Djokovic- gives full credit to opponent, admits to being outplayed. Hugely improved from early years here
2 Ferrer- emotional, but never fails to give full credit. Probably the best on average, but a couple of rants moved him down a slot

3 Gasquet- quiet, angry at himself but still credits opponent with beating him
4 Del Potro- just quiet, says standard things aside from a few questionable moments
5 Berdych- quiet, usually gives credit to opponent
6 Tsonga- nice enough, can deny opponent credit

7 Murray- declined this year, based mostly off questionable RG time outs when behind. But good in interviews
8 Federer- not very gracious in defeat, always stunned he could lose
9 Tipsarevic- mostly he's very bad for retiring near end. I do like that he speaks his mind off court though

10 Nadal- huge list, tries all kinds of questionable things and tends to write off losses as flukes or results of injury frequently

This list does make a difference to me but some things bother me more than others. I admit Tipsy is a poor loser, but the retirements don't bother me too much, and I find Berdych's generally being an asshole less offensive than Nadal's fake character that collapses completely under pressure

3. Tsonga - infectious joie de vivre; sometimes gets pissed off when umpires do something weird but never degenerates into tantrum-throwing
4. Djokovic - exceptionally gracious in defeat; perhaps a tad triumphalist in victory
5. Federer - probably deserves to be higher for off-court activities but while generally well behaved on court, he does have his moments of peevishness
6. Murray - the antics are ridiculous, but if you cut through all that he's actually a very fair player
7. Gasquet - maybe he deserves to be higher but I can't stand the pathetic way he gives up so easily
8. Nadal - talks a good game but stalls or whines when things aren't going his way and imagines the ATP tour should redesign itself around his needs
9. Tipsarevic - this is for the retirements
10. Berdych - this is for everything.
Nice post. To nitpick I would place Gasquet at 4.

1. Del Potro
2. Ferrer

That's about it.

Federer is only classy when he wins but he became so used to winning that it made him a sore loser.

Djokovic is only classy when he loses and turns into the Hulk after winning significant tournaments.

Nadal has changed quite a bit. When he was younger, he was not the definition of classy when it came to celebrations and general on-court attitude.

Your "reasoning" is entirely suppositional.

You'd have had an easier time citing another example.

I would not count Del Potro very highly (although I like him a lot) because there is a difference between being quiet and being classy. he's just extremely quiet.

Ferrer/Federer probably at the top
Nadal is extremely classy despite what you haters say. that's some bullshit about him trying to intimidate Rosol, an accidental bump turns him into the worst person ever... grow up. and FYI him being slow has nothing to do with class, it's up to the ump to get on him for that, nothing to do with class

Murray and Berdych and Tipsy are at the bottom, disrespectul/notpolite/etc

Djokovic is in the middle, he can be nice sometimes but other times act like a clown when he wins with thumping his chest and also he still fakes from time to time and faked SO MUCH earlier in his career its hard to overlook...

Federer
Ferrer
Nadal

Djokovic
Del Potro

The rest

Djokovic is more classy in defeat than in victory. His applauding opponents' good points is so quick and spontaneous that I can't imagine it being calculated.

Roger is the opposite, more gracious in victory than in defeat when he can turn sour.

Murray is utterly classless, come-ons at opponent's DFs say it all.

Nadal. Ermh, honestly I do't know what to think about him.

Ferrer and Del Potro seem rather balanced to me, I have no negative memories.

Berdych is Berdych.

Tsonga's dances when beating opponents ranked very low are utterly classless.

Tipsarevic's withdrawals when losing speak for themselves.

Richard: Well, I may be biased, but I don't remember any negative behaviour towards crowds, umpires or an opponent for whom he has even too much credit, sometimes.

Federer is just pure class, on and off the court. I really like Delpo a lot and think he handles things very well and I hope he becomes a multiple major champion.

frauderer has been a disgrace to the sport

fake humble image, patronizing condolences, self-entitlement, presser insults, emotional blackmail, ATP bribes, lies, lies, and more lies

muger needed weak draws and choking headcases to serve his way to grand slams

he cried for laver, and fell over himself to accept senile sampras comments that he wasn't in decline

fed reveled in having mugs and clowns happily losing matches against him for fake affection and cash love

he denied that he placed blame on others for losses, and denied that he had match up problems with certain players. constant lies

typical frauderer, the evil eyes and big nose move, but the brain has long since gone

tennis was on its deathbed in 2006, but muger frauderer wanted more glory and praise

gimp mcenroe drooled at frauderer's weak attempts to volley and attempt fluke baseline half volleys

the poisonous swiss was grateful that his opponents were slow, asthmatic ants. so he was able to serve aces and run around all day to win matches

fortunately the frauderer era is a bygone relic of ancient history these days

real champions like nadal, murray and djokovic are showing people real tennis with real people, real emotions, and real class

On the contrary, if you know you can flout the rules without getting punished, yet you obey them anyway, that is classy. Continually flouting the rules just because you can get away with it - that is not classy.

See Plato's Crito for something vaguely analogous.
