I don't think there should be too much to worry about in that regard. The men's game today is so deep and so volatile that it's almost impossible to see any one player dominating with an iron fist the way Sampras or McEnroe or Lendl did in their heyday.

I agree, however, that Federer is a breath of fresh air in terms of his style and maneuvarability on the court- a lot of the players today look as if they've come off an assembly line in terms of the way they execute their shots and their style. No disrespect intended, of course, many of them get the job done very efficiently, but a player like Federer, I think, adds another dimension to the game.
From the "NYT: Federer is the savior of men's tennis" thread in GM.

Go to 'search' on the tool bar (next to 'Quick Links' on the right of it and 'New Posts' on the left)

Then clicked 'advanced search'

Under 'search by username' type your username in and set the fields 'Find Posts From' Last Entry to Oldest.

Then go to 'sort results' first field 'by last posting date' second field 'in ascending order'.

The set the 'Show result as' field according to 'Posts', click 'Search Now' and the first post is your very first one. Simple isn't it

Hehe back in the days where I only posted in the non-tennis and Seb forums ( it was only January). Anyway this was my first post and it was in Sebastien's forum after watching him at the AO:

I loved that they all got involved in Mexican waves going around the arena at the changes of ends too.

crystal welcome, even though I'm new myself... you have good taste in players as Sebastien and Juanqui are my 2nd and 3rd favourites behind Jonas Bjorkman

Oops my player list has changed slightly since then and Seb is my #1

Fedex, if I can get my first post then you can also do it!

You can find a way with a lot of different settings, but best would be simply following RonE's good explanation above. The most important setting is probably "ascending" order as the search then starts with the oldest post and not with the most recent.

Here's mine. Pretty boring...

Re: Who's your all-time favorite American player?

Hi everyone, I'm new here.... This looks like a fun discussion board, so I'm looking forward to participating!

I voted for Agassi because he is my favorite player, no question. But I have always thought Todd Martin was great too, on and off the court. And you can't help admiring Pete as well for all his achievements and his amazing talent.

My first post was on a very silly thread about some truths about Andy Roddick. I showed my colours straight away. This was last year about how Roddick is a homer and only wins major tournaments in North America.

Well Rass it looks like you have upset the deciples haven't you? Yes, I understand the point you were trying to make, but maybe you should have explained it in a better manner.

Of course Roddick is better in North America than in Europe, that goes without saying as every player plays better in some places than others. Though there is a valid point that doesn't seem to have addressed as of yet.

Quote:
So when is the Great Saviour of tennis going to come out and win everywhere consistently and against quality opposition? Just like I said in the OP Sampras, Agassi, Lendl, Becker, Edberg, Wilander, Hewitt and Safin to a lesser degree have been or were able to achieve.

Yes, he is deemed as the Great Saviour of tennis, probably more so in the USA. Unfortunately many (Not All) American fans don't see that tennis is a global sport and long gone are the days where the US and Australia were the domination nations. For that I am thankful as tennis needs as much diversity as possible.

In spite of this he does need to win more tournaments outside of North America and against quality opposition. No St Pölten doesn't count as a quailty tournament, and Queens yes is the major lead in to Wimbledon, Rodduck is one of the few guys that has possibilities of consistently winning on grass, unlike clay where there is a higher chance of multiple tournament winners.

Also the ah he is only young excuse doesn't really hold down very well. By the same age Becker, Edberg, Hewitt, Sampras, Wilander, Lendl, McEnroe, Safin and Agassi were either established as top players, and were consistently winning big tournaments everywhere. Though some took longer for a Grand Slam breakthrough eg Lendl and Agassi, but once they got over that hurdle they established themselves as outstanding players.

Any player can have one outstanding season, but it's up to Woodduck to prove that he can win everywhere, on all surfaces against quality opposition and over a long period of time. Once he has done that many of his knockers would be happy to give him credit.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".
