There are way too many matches each year to try and figure out what were the worst, not every match is on tv, and not everyone has seen every shown match, it's impossible, but the worst matches are obviously the fixed ones.

You're Dulltarding is laid on very thickly here, as that match was unarguably the best match this year. Tennis was saved by that result.
the question is not the quality of the result, but the quality of the MATCH. the match was poor, Nadal and Verdasco both played badly, Fernando not in particularly great form but Nadal just slipping all over the place. Nadal choking somehow (probably partially due to distaste of the strange blue clay) and losing 5 games in a row to a mediocre Verdasco.
I don't care that Verdasco won, what I care about is that I sat through that match and it was one of the most absolutely poor things I have seen in a long time. neither played well. it was... uh... what is the term some of you on here like to use... oh! a 'mugfest' of sorts, because neither player played well. I suppose if you're looking for a positive from Nadal VS. Verdasco @ Madrid, Verdasco's reaction to finally beating Nadal was emotional to say the least
